Please let me know your thoughts on these reads I've auditioned for- This read is calling for--We are looking for friendly, conversational. Not hard sell, but not too slow/soft. The target audience is families.- I use an MKH416 with audient id22. I am in a 4x5 Whisperroom.
I audition quite a bit and haven't landed much....
Lay it on me ...

hi brad - welcome to the vo-bb! i typically stay out of the critique section because there are lots of folks here better qualified to opine, but ---
your voice has a really nice, friendly quality, i like it.
the sound coming out of your recording space (where many fail) is excellent
all of the technical things are there - what i'm NOT hearing is you. where is brad in this read? _________________ "i know philip banks": todd ellis

Thanks Todd
I really need to open up and feel one with the product/script. I think I am leaning way more on the announcer side for reads. Even though I tone down I still evoke that "announcer" tone every few words. I was hoping my classes were helping lol. Practice /practice. Thanks so much for the input Todd. |

I like your voice.
Seem to be forcing things that don't really need emphasizing with the announcery voice, and then rushing through the key ideas.
"Once you're here" should be off the cuff, while "serene and peaceful" could be given more space. _________________ Skype: globalvoiceover

Thanks Lance!
I agree totally, I'm working out the over-emphasizing (announcer syndrome) for sure! I appreciate you listening and helping me |

You're welcome. Been there with the over-emphasizing. _________________ Skype: globalvoiceover

Your read is fine. But I want to warn to never, ever post auditions. Don’t discuss or even hint. If you are seeking critique of your reads, post something that has already been cast. If you need advice on current auditions do it privately but not online. I’ve seen too many actors dropped by agents or fired from gigs for this. |
