Trying to get a better understanding for rate determination purposes. I've got the latest Nielson report outlining who the top 100 are, but where does "Major" downgrade to "Medium"? Thanks! _________________ www.dereksvoice.com |

after working in the radio biz for a long time my interpretation of "major market" had always been the top 5. NY,LA, CHI,SF, DFW. with SF & DFW regularly swapping positions 4 & 5 due to population growth, along with some recognition to the other 5 in the top 10 group. 11-25 are the medium markets.
All others rank lower than medium...ie: "small"
as for VO talent rates , NY,LA, CHI have long been considered the majors. |

Thanks for the input; that's pretty much the conclusion I was going to work with. _________________ www.dereksvoice.com |

Would you consider Baltimore, San Antonio, Kansas City, Las Vegas, and Louisville small markets? I would think they are all at least medium and they are all ranked between 25 -50. It's somewhat arbitrary, but I think you could argue that the dividing line between medium and small is somewhere between #55 and #75. _________________ Lee Gordon, O.A.V.

For VO
1.) The Major 3
2.) 25-50 (Sorry, Buffalo)
3.) And the rest (sung in Gilligan's Island early theme voice) _________________ Skype: globalvoiceover

Sunspots pays by market size with a big rate drop at #51. Of course New Orleans, where I used to do quite a few commercials, held the vaunted #51 spot in their calculations. Oh well.
