On Tuesday 19Mar2019 I gave the best talk of my career, I think.
I've been presenting talks on directing voice talent and casting for 4 years but this one had an effervescent response.
What was different this time?
The GDC videotapes all the talks; the house lights were dark and couldn't be turned up and and there were (at least) 4 pin spots trained on the speakers' rostrum. It was painfully blinding — so I put on my dark glasses.
This meant I couldn't read my presenter notes...
...so the entire presentation was a story. _________________ DBCooperVO.com

I'm certain a room full of Storytellers would enjoy being told a story. |

You were unbound from your carefully-plotted plans, and that's when magic happened.
You know the thing, you did the work, you let it go, you stayed present. Transcendence.
Bravo. _________________ * * * * * * * * * *

It's taken me a lifetime to learn that when things go off the rails is when they have a chance to be even better. Johnny Carson's jokes very frequently bombed; what people liked was how he recovered. A surfer knows how to ride the waves, but he doesn't know exactly what kind of wave they will get, they have to ride whatever comes up. That's where the fun is.
I'll see if I can think of any other analogies that might apply here. _________________ Art Howard.com |

It’s a topic you know and love so of course you did well. Plus, being in San Francisco and with you wearing shades, I’ll bet some were reminded of the Bay area’s “beat” poetry era. Cool daddio.
