IF you're doing home stuff for fun, or at an amateur level, the VTB-1 is a good pre. If you're doing this professionally, I don't recommend it. I would recommend (at a minimum) something like the Onyx 400. The preamp is cleaner, and it has a nicer interface (unless you already have a kick ass sound card that can handle the interface.
But that's just my $0.02 _________________ Voiceovers by Gregory Houser

Santa (via his workshop at Northern Light & Sound) left a Rane MS1b under the tree for a temporary VO booth we need next week.
We were told the little Rane is very clean, noise-free, very inexpensive and matches with most good mics wonderfully for VO work.
Unfortunatley, the elves packed a wrong cable and we must now wait for the re-ship. I will let you know when we try it out.
Other audio-techs have compared the Rane as a "baby John Hardy M-1." We'll see. _________________ Wild Willie Edwards
