|
|
One of our members reports getting spam that mentioned a password he had used in the past, and remembers the VO-BB as the only place he had used it.They threatened blackmail unless he paid them.
Now this could be another ludicrous attempt at a scam just like the recent "I see what you're doing through your device's camera". In that case the passwords were hacked from LinkedIn and others years before. The most important point is they really can't blackmail you. They really can't get into your camera like that.
THAT BEING SAID....
If you're at all concerned about your password here, it's easy to change. Click on Profile at the top of the page and there you will see these boxes:
Current Password
New Password
Confirm Password
Fill those out and hit "Submit" and you're set. Write it down though. I do not have access to your passwords.
Lastly, it's safe to change your password. Changing your email address freaks this program out and locks you out. If you need to change your email addy, let me know.
Thanks and be safe out there.

I got that as well a few weeks ago.
It's 100% BS.
That said, changing one's paswords from time to time is a good idea. _________________ DBCooperVO.com

To make sure it's super secure, put #SS ahead of your last four digits!

probably an old list from an earlier breach and the list was compiled into a larger list with other data breaches sold on the dark web. |

I get these all the time, so now I'm careful to drape the Cheetos bag over the lens of my webcam whenever I'm watching online porn. _________________ Lee Gordon, O.A.V.

But then they'll know about your filthy Cheetos habit by all the orange dust on the lens!

I keep a text file with the passwords I use for each website/account. The Mac OS features a password generator: go to System Preferences>Users & Groups>Change Password, then click the key icon, and the Password Assistant appears, giving the choice of password types: Memorable, Letters & Numbers, Numbers Only, Random, or FIPS-181 Compliant, and the ability to choose a password length of between 8 and 31 characters. Unless a specific format is required, I use random passwords of 18 characters. _________________ Mike
