VO-BB - 20 YEARS OLD!

A young man Tweeted about not feeling comfortable offering his services as a "Voice Acting" Coach. He is a Graduate (acting based degree) and has been working as an Actor for 7 years.

One of the replies interested me.

"I have several degrees in voice and in teaching and I used to give out “stuff I learned “ info all the time for free and people would go off and pay someone who’s been in 3 Audio dramas for advice.

The girl tweeting is in her late twenties. SEVERAL degrees? I went to her web site and LinkedIn page. No mention of ANY of the industry specific or teaching degrees. For those who didn't know it takes at least 3 years to get a Bachelor's degree.

Am I either holding her to account or judging her. No. We all should hold each other to account because we allowed this to happen.

A few years ago a couple of my friends were having lunch with a VO Coach and something he said prompted the response "Well, Philip Banks thinks ..."

"No one CARES what Philip Banks thinks!" he snapped.

Were I there I would've hugged him.

No one should care a fig what I or anyone else thinks. We seek only knowledge supported by evidence or in the case of VO Conferences, sponsorship in return for permission to talk complete and utter bollocks.
