97! That's a great run. Bet she has some great stories. Wish you and your family strength and good spirit. Laid my 96yr old mom to rest a few months ago. She was ready as well. |

Thanks to the ridiculous influences to which we are all subjected, love, true love has been trivialised.
My niece, Stephanie who is in her mid 20s, told me last night that on Saturday she was unable to connect with my Mum; she was there but she wasn't.
"All I wanted to do was get up from my chair, lie beside her on the bed and hold her until she gently passed away."
For obvious reasons this could not be allowed but if that's not a profound expression of true I don't what is. |

Sorry to hear about your loss. My mother passed away just over 2 years ago.
You are in our thoughts and prayers. _________________ www.scottsvoiceover.com - An American voice in Finland

So terribly sorry to hear of your loss, Philip. Deepest condolences. 97 years is quite an achievement.
Being prepared and knowing something is coming is generally of little comfort. I hope you and your family are able to find some measure of it in the coming days and weeks. |

I simply have to share this!
Funniest line related earlier today by my niece during the funeral of my Mother.
"She once got into trouble during the war with her Bosses because she was too tall to fit into a Spitfire."
Not a sentence I ever thought I'd hear EVER let alone about my Mother! |

I’ve learned that war veterans often don’t share their experiences with close family members, but might with a more distant person. Emma’s family knew few details of her father’s time in WWII, but he relayed to me the 90% loss of his fellow soldiers in an an early battle in North Africa, his retraining as a bomber pilot, and his surviving 25 bombing missions and various strafing runs over Germany. Funny how he left out the details for the women in the family.
Well three cheers for your Mum and her turn with the RAF!

Just reading the story about your mom's height "challenge", Philip - I would never have guessed that would happen! As a 5'9" woman, it is always unusual for me to observe a woman taller than I am. (I assume she must have been at least as tall, or else most male pilots were shorter than average?)
It's so interesting to me to hear these stories from decades past.
Sending you a hug today! _________________ jen@jengosnell.com

Late hearing this news - my visits to the VO-BB have been random lately. Was going to respond to the first post with something - but the words morphed in my brain as I read through the thread.
So, now I will simply say - here's a big virtual hug from me - until such time as it can be a real hug. _________________ Playing for a living...
