Many of us, self included, have seen a slowdown in work in recent times, especially the wilder creative work, but there was a day just seven years ago when I posted this:
Quote: | So in the past 30 days or so I’ve been paid to portray a number of straight announcer roles, but also:
A very old rock fish, A furry but lovable monster that sleeps under beds, A cat companion to the furry monster,A bunch of male and female characters in a murder mystery, A crazy, spooky Halloween announcer, A math teacher explaining a new home pricing deal, A video game beast called “Devourer”, An Estonian father and his nincompoop son-in-law for a new vodka,
And a cheeseburger.
And to top it off, tomorrow in a commercial for a new garden rake, my role is:
Leaf #2.
I think I like this business. |

Hearing that you played a cheeseburger reassures me that US TV has stuck to its principles since I first visited in the 80s and found myself shouting “dancing food” at the screen in almost every single commercial break. |

This week, I'll be Santa Claus, which hardly even counts as a deviation from the straight announcer category.
I may have told this story before, but several years ago, I played two leaves in a commercial for one of those devices meant to keep debris out of your gutters. The leaves were named Oakey and Fred. I tried to get them to change Fred's name to Russell, but they didn't get it. _________________ Lee Gordon, O.A.V.

If I remember correctly Russell identified himself as a quaker.
