I didn't know there'd be maths in voiceover work, and now we're supposed to know economics, too?
I'd go to my favorite coach, but that's you, and you've explained it succinctly.

So, if I understand correctly, a good marketing coach should be able to summarize (in easily digestible nuggets) the concept that a more modern Keynesian dynamic totally undermines the previously held views that bolstered the partial equilibrium theory as supported by the Lausanne School. However, they should also be able to explain that in a primarily post-Keynesian world, unemployment is a factor that should be treated as inherent in the model, and not, as before, put in a corner and ignored like the doddery old uncle with halitosis.
Will we every hear a marketing coach say... "Eee Lad, I can't take yer money... because yer crap and don't stand a chance in this business. Don't waste y'brass or time! Go stack some shelves."
I think not. _________________ Bish a.k.a. Bish

There are people out there who want us to think that the buyers out there are mindless nincompoops and you need to put a picture of a microphone on your website to prove you know what that is.
One 60 second demo with six different styles of read (you are good at) is all you need to start. If a producer can’t tell if you’re worthy of consideration from that, then maybe they are a nincompoop.
Now as a proof of your range of abilities it’s nice to have a couple more such as narration or character work, but only if you’re good at each of those styles of read. Super specialized demos such as medical or trailer work are only worthwhile creating if you’re good at those and are serious about chasing those lines of endeavor.
Ultimately, if you truly need multiple demos, and want to save money, learn how to edit audio and create your own. If you have a decent recording software, a good ear for what sounds right and what sucks, and some spare time, there are likely dozens of YouTube videos out there that will teach you.

And our next award is for the Hyper-Local Take-Out Food Services (closed on alternate Wednesdays) demo category... it was hotly contested, but the award goes to... Johnny Muggins, produced by Jim Smarmy's WeGotcha Demos!
You're going to get hate mail for subverting the VO demo industry!
And the VO awards industry!
Well done. Well done indeed _________________ Bish a.k.a. Bish

Success. Apologies, this is not motivational or flaky. It is simply and annoyingly practical! https://vimeo.com/652004422 |
