I love agencies that give mixed descriptions of what they're looking for in an audition.... like "we want 20 to 30 years old" but then list four actors for inspiration who are all in their 50's. Today's example is not totally screwy, but:
Quote: | SPECS:
Older Male. 55-70. Please submit all ethnicities. We’re looking for a diverse and inclusive submission. (Fine.)
***While we’re doing a male casting only for this character, they plan to submit a handful of women ** (Fine, but check the specs)
Looking for a meditative beach dad who is chock full of wisdom and charisma. A musky older man you want to hug and hang out with so you can absorb his wealth of knowledge. He’s a true salt of the earth guy with wit, warmth, charm, and a keen sense of humor. He speaks in a relaxed, laid back way that feels content and nostalgic. He might have a touch of weathered grit in his voice that reflects his life well lived. He’s fully present in the moment and his delivery is relaxed, while remaining lighthearted and loose; never stoic.
(This is a 30 second commercial by the way!)
Celebrity Touchstones: Jeff Bridges, Patti Smith, Frances McDormand, Catherine Keener types. (Sigh) |

Got that one too.

I did the audition in an un-airconditioned studio, so perhaps the musk came across. _________________ Playing for a living...

"Musky" descriptor just makes me chuckle.. I don't know anyone who would consider themselves "musky". |

I think you are confusing musky with musty. I been around many a musky man and woman...not offensive...maybe not a target either LOL |
