On the topic of conferences, what would be the one to attend? If, let's say, you were only going to go to one of them every 5-10 years or even just one.
I've never been and would like to at least experience one. |
Decide based on the lineup of workshops, guests and speakers whom would most benefit you and your career. |

Probably the best VO conferences have been the Faffcon events over the years before the COVID kerfuffle. Now World Voices, an organization dedicated to our occupation is holding a Faffcon like event in Chicago in October. What made Faffcon different and better was that the topics were chosen by attendees on the spot and each session was led by voice talents with established experience on the topic, not people trying to sell their knowledge.
WOVO powers are promising this meeting will mostly be these kinds of breakout sessions with just a few commercial portions to help pay for the event. I’ve ignored other conferences over the past several years but this one intrigued me and I’m going. Here’s a link to learn more:

I went to WoVoCon in Orlando last year and am planning to go to the one in Chicago in October. I will frankly admit that at this stage of my career, I am more interested in being in the physical presence of a bunch of old friends and meeting some new ones than I am about improving my performance, marketing, or technical skills.
However, since Amy gave her blessing to WoVo to adopt the unconference model, I will be happy to share whatever golden nuggets I can, should the opportunity arise. _________________ Lee Gordon, O.A.V.

Looking forward to seeing old friends and making new ones at the WOVOCON Voiceover UNConference in Chicago.
While there are lots of people coming here's a look at just a few of the familiar, friendly and knowledgeable faces you'll see there.
