Quick solution is to call the hospital and see how they answer the phone. Or at least ask someone who works there.

That was my immediate thought, until I realized the hospital was in Iran Smile

Todd, have you thought about calling a nearby university and see if they have a department for Arabic languages. They might be able to help.

Have you ever heard of email? And, what about the client or whomever you got the copy from? Phone work well, even if it domestic.

The other option is do you know of anyone FROM Iran?

Sorry, not of much help, but I do believe email works in Iran this week...

I would call a random Iranian-- find an Iranian restaurant, cultural center, or look up that last name in the white pages here in the US (the internet makes it easier) and find someone here who owns the name -- they will likely be happy someone cared to say it right!

Ok.

Zeinabieh

ei = long a (as in sleigh)
ie = ee (as in creed)
a = ah ( as in Bob)
Highly likely that the emphasis is on the last syllable.

zane-ah-BEE?

I emailed a couple of hours ago after a quick google turned up the same site Bettie posted - (thanks). Maybe I'll get something back ... someday. I do know a total of one Iranian, and I'm still trying to get in touch with him. I like Amy's idea but here in pick-up truck/gun rack country the iranian restaurants are pretty few and far between. Maybe I'll just mumble.

Your phone might be able to dial out of the immediate vicinity, if you push the right buttons...

List of US Iranian restaurants by state.

We have a winner two sources say its: zay-nob-YEH and that's enough for me. My hourly rate on this thing just fell through the basement.

ps - if this is wrong - please DON'T TELL ME.

Hope I'm not too late with this...

Just asked a friend who actually was born in Iran, working for the local grill/shoarma place I visit once in a while.

He said: Zai-na-bee-yah

'zai' as in why
'na' as in nuh, hardly emphasized, hardly audible
'bee' as in we
'yah' as in yeah (but shorter)

Mind that the emphasis is on BEE

so
--- --- +++++ ---
zai-na-BEE-ah

Pretty hard to try to explain phonetics in another lingo Wink
