VO-BB - 20 YEARS OLD!

Hello all...
I am curious as to what everyone is using for furniture (i.e desks, etc.) in their "inner sanctum".
I am building a new studio in the basement (boy, is it going to be sweeeeet) and I was wondering what all of you more established artists are doing for their studio furniture? I assume that most of you guys are using "homebrew" stuff, but if anyone has any leads as to more reasonable stuff, please let me know. That stuff gets really really expensive.
Can also post pics of the construction, if anyone is interested. The electrical was run today.

This is made by a Sauder company. You know the people who sell the cheapies at Target.

This one is rock solid though. Took three hours to put together. Sheez!

I've got an old government issue oak desk I got at a used furniture store in South Carolina. 15 square feet of desk space.
I built a set of racks for my other stuff.

Since switching to a laptop my desk is well, a desk. It's kind of prissy 'cause Mrs. White picked it out. The monitor speakers sit a foot or two behind it on Quick LoK monitor stands ($35 when Mars Music went belly u Hobo Happy

and a Raxxis rack that was in the Used Stuff section of Guitar Center for maybe $50 which holds: the outboard limiter, the USD sync box and the power amp. The rack sits on the floor beside the desk. As do the two dogs and three cats.

I'd show you a pic, but the place is a little, er, unkempt.

I went to a "stand up" desk a couple of years ago. I just took these pictures so they're current as of Jan 13, 2007 @ 9PM Smile

Almost forgot. This was made using parts from an old desk. You see those two cabinets under the Reel to Reel? That was the base of the desk. The formica top on the standup section used to lay on top of the two cabinets. So, I built legs for the stand up part, put the formica on the legs and a new wood top on the cabinets. I greatly expanded my work space and still kept the cabinet storage I needed. There are rack rails for my Simetrix 528 (no 'E' either) and a Behringer headphone amp to the right of where I stand.

Bill....what brand of booms do I see there in your pic? Are those clamp on to your desk? How do you like them and how much do they cost? I'm thinking about going that route, but haven't seen any that look sturdy enough.

Sorry for the delay. Working all weekend. What a drag.
I was gonna ask the same question about the booms. I have seen them, and they look really cool. Bill Elder has a nice, clean setup also. He must not have kids yet.

I relly dig that Sauder desk, though.

Thanks for the comments. You're right. No kids, but you should see this place when the band (three 18 year olds and one 20) records here. Along with girlfriends...instruments...amps...neighbors complaining. Inoccent

It's pretty cool. I made enclosures for the amps. I can mic them and you can't hear them outside the house. And it's headphones for everyone.

The mic stands from the original pictures were some I had made from old lamps. But, I found this great deal on E-Bay from a guy named Marty. Get one for $40 (minus shipping) or 2 for $75. These things are solid. Here are a couple more pictures of the base. I use the screw on but I have the riser arms if I ever need them. Yes, they also come with a clamp.

...and a better one of the arm itself. One nice thing is the cable is inside the arm itself and the extended thread arm is a nice touch. Very sturdy
