Okay for those that have never been to an anime con, feel warned right now.

Since DB made a couple of comments, I figured that I'd just put these up and get them over with.

I'll make a long story short. Like some of the other folks here, I'm a fan of anime. I've been into it since 1978 and still going strong. Having been around that long, I've rubbed elbows with more than a few folks in the industry, many of whom I consider to be my friends.

Anyway, I was asked a few years back, as a professional VA to take my skills as a VA and to combine them with my love for anime as a fan. I don't do anime VO, but what the powers that be had in mind was for me to do some panels for the various cons, teaching people some of the basics of voiceover, and eventually into ADR recording. One of the big things in the anime community is the large number of people who "want to do the voice thing." To this end, the panels were designed to be less about the "what is your favorite character" type, and more about how the VAs do what we do, regardless of genre, and to demonstrate that while this is a lot of fun, it's a lot of hard work and practice.

To that end, I've brought some pics to get the anime kick out of DB's system Sticking out Tongue

They're from a few different cons, so yeah I know that the pics are different.

I make no comment about how some of these folks dress... though I'd kill my children (if I had any) for going out in public like some of these folks...

And of course, since I bring some of my gear, it usually ends up turning up at a podcast of sorts later during the cons for various groups (and no, I did not let that girl use the Neumann without first putting up a good popfilter).

And for a final pic or two, here's one to keep DB happy. A nice pic of one of my buds from Funi breaking down a display for the industry booth we were supporting that weekend.

Yeah, Like THAT's gonna happen.

Thank you for these pix! I always love the panels. The guys leading the discussions are the only sane people at an anime con-- and that is a screwy article of comparison.
