Newly arrived on my system.

Have been working around it but there must be a way of solving this problem. Any ideas? |

Philip,
I know this may sound strange, but I've actually heard that sound before. It was caused by radar scans from an installation that was located near our booth at the studio where I used to work in Virginia Beach, VA. _________________ Be well,

Got it. Aliens, definitely aliens. I've wrapped myself in Bacofoil. That's foilded* their plans to control me through my wee huttie.
*Moment of humour there. |

Banksey,
Was that the only time you heard it or does it happen at any interval? If so, have you re-booted and heard it again? How much space remains on your hard drive? Are you using more than 50% of its capacity? Any changes that you've made in your system lately...new equipment, connections? |

Changed the way I plug everything into the mains and my hard drive is near 50% full. I've now swapped things around and dumped so audio from my archive to create space. Didn't notice any particular intervals but it was happening regularly.
We'll see if it persists post change. |

The sample showed up at 48khz is that what you recorded it at? If so, see if it happens at 44khz. 44khz 16bit is cd quality anything higher is barely audible by the human ear. I've seen many problems recording at higher sample rates.

Hi Connie, I was in NY for a week before Christmas, and the UK for Christmas/New Year. I'm in Australia again now. Best, Katrina (Just about over the jet lag) |

No, I certainly don't!
My business still operates out of NYC, even though I am in Australia, which is why I left it as is. |

Now the splat story continued. No matter what I did there were problems so I decided to think outside of the box. I record and edit on Soundforge but it was recording splats and other things so that wasn't an option. I have a piece of audio production software that is so powerful it can't be loaded on to a hard drive it runs off a CD and the generators from two old Royal Navy aircraft carriers. I use none of the feature of this piece of software except the record mode, I then save it, close down the programme then load the clean recording into Soundforge and edit. I'm sure the problem with soundforge is that because it's on my hard disc it's being effected by whatever else is going on while I record and I have neither the time, inclination or knowledge to try to fault find then fix the problem.
Using old studio terminology I have a nice tape recorder and another machine for playback/editing |
