Work does beget work. Prior to building my home studio I of course did all my work with local studios. One such studio I still use occasionally as I did in late November. At 12:02 am on Thanksgiving morning, I had a wonderful email from the owner of the studio requesting a picture of me so they could add me and my demos to the "Staff" page on their website. Then just a couple of short weeks ago I received a call from a large production company out of NY that was coming to KC to produce the Sam's Club store managers meeting/awards ceremony and wanted me to do some voice talking for them...live. They were referred to me from that same studio. I called the studio owner immediately to thank him and his reply was "no need to thank me! You have sent me enough business, I thought it was high time I sent some your way!" What started out to be one session on Sunday evening, ended up being 4 sessions over 3 days...all live! I just finished up with this today and to put it mildly, it was a total thrill not to mention the thrill of the big check! The entertainment included Taylor Swift, The Temptations, and John Mellencamp. They had several guests such as Ben Stein, Dan Marino and Chris Gardner, the gentleman who has recently published an autobiography and is the main character that Will Smith plays in The Pursuit of Happyness. (amazing story!!) Anywho, I was right in the thick of this event and Carol the producer was simply phenomenal!! I was so thrilled that they had my table and mic set up next to her. Watching her in action was nothing short of amazing. She remained soooo cool as she orchestrated her large staff of camera, sound, light and the rest of the crews. And in between all of this I had time to squeeze in a vo for a TV ad …twice! My ears are a bit shot though. They are still ringing...trying to listen to direction and cues while Mellencamp is ripping out the tunes was more of a challenge than I thought it would but this was my first for a live event. I didn’t know what to expect and admittedly a bit nervous but the nerves settle down quickly and I enjoyed every single second of it. This voice talking thing is quite a roller coaster with the highs and lows but… ain’t the highs grand!?!?! Thanks for letting me share this high with you! Now will someone please pass me the watercress!

Anthony, you are so spot on!! It was so hard to hear over the headset and luckily I could keep an eye on the producer and was able to ensure I got my cues right. If I were in a room by myself I am sure the big hook would have come out and the gig would have only been 1 line of the first session instead of all 4 sessions. Plus, I think this settled me down, just having others around sort of gave some comfort.

in the spirit of keeping the thrill alive and since we are nearing the end of Valentine's Day, I thought I would share the TV add I spoke of earlier.
