These guys are fabulously inexpensive, and offer a lot for little. You have to know what you're doing-- there's no hand-holding but there are tutorials and they do have quick customer service should you have questions.

Wow! Really cheap and tonnes of services! How did you hear about them DB? It's almost a case of it sounding too good to be true. Have you or do you currently use them?

The site does appear to have MEGA benefits, and even the whole "nine yards" is affordable. Probably beats the heck out of FreeWebs. Definitely worth considering. Smile

I don't do this because I just build directories for people I want to deliver things to.

I don't currently have people sending stuff to me, so I haven't needed to create an FTP setup.

Well, there are occassions that people do send stuff to me, as I produce a lot of station imaging, both in-hooue and freelance. Up untill this point, I've had my freelance clients e-mail me MP3's of their voice guy's cuts. I'd produce them, then send several MP3 files back. Due to audio quality, and the fact that the majority of my freelance imaging is done for other Cox stations, high sample rate and file size is an issue, as Cox has some very stringant laws against compression. Therefore I can only send so many MP3 files at a time, becuase most of my users have a very limited storage file size on their e-mail.

Geeez....that a great deal! I pay about the same (yearly) for my host...but don't get near the features these guys give. I may have to change when mine comes for up renewal. I put a bookmark on their site. Thanks for the tip DB!

For my buddy Mike M and others...if you have to send out long files
or lots of mp3s that might be longer than 1min and at least 256 bit rate.
Use www.yousendit.com.

Keep in mind with yousendit however, that there may still be a limitation on the receiver's pop account. The send side may allow for up to 1gb, but the receive limit still may be 10 or 20 mb. ISP's are moving towards eliminating the size restrictions, but they're not all there yet.

Truthfully, the best options I've found so far (next to clunky ftp) is MSN messenger. I actually stumbled upon it during a chat session... you can attach any size file and send it in real time to the person that you're chatting with ,without affecting the chat itself. Obviously in most of oour cases the chat is irrelivent, it's strictly the file sending that we care about.

Give it a go and see how big a file you can transfer. I haven't tested it up to a gig, but I've never been cut off and I've transfered files in excess of 50mb.

Yeah, Brian,m that's the very same issue I'm dealingv with, the reciver's mail storage,limit. I pay Yahoo the $25 per year fee for unlimited storage (maybe not completely unlimiyrd, but something astronomically rediculous)

Have you thought about Gmail? They have a 2 gig limit...if I remember correctly. I have one and if anyone wants an invite, I'll be glad to send you one. I'm not even sure if you have to be invited anymore...but when I joined up, you had to be sent an invitation from someone with a gmail account.

We have discussed this before, I do bleeb, and we found that sometimes the file transfers withing GMail break. It may be better now.

I have a GMail account, as well. I'd be interested to see if if works as well as FTP.

Be careful of really cheap web hosting. Many put governors on the download speed so it can take forever for your demo to download and play. One of my agents' sites is restricted to 27 kbs so you have to wait for 10 or 15 seconds to hear a demo, and up to a minute to view a video demo. Ouch.

In this world of instant gratification, you don't want those producers to get distracted while waiting for your dulcet tones to hit their ears!
