To my New England and adventurous out-of-area-pals---

I am in the process of arranging for PAT FRALEY (Pat Fraley Oh My God!) to come and teach a Master's Class for Voice in Boston.

Who all 'round here would be keen on the idea?
 It's a weekend intensive.

I need to rustle up 12 people for the class-- and I want to test the water here before letting the cat out of the bag to the General Populace.

If you need info on Pat Fraley, his website is believe-it-ot-not: PATFRALEY.COM. He is the author of the much-touted Creating Character Voices for Fun and Profit and voice of zillion things you have heard if you've had your TV or radio on for more than 5 minutes in the last 10 years.

 Well? Waddaya think?

				| It's a beautiful idea. I wish more people did that kind of thing. Unfortunately, I won't be able to attend. Maybe I can borrow one of y'alls crib notes.

				| Each Master's Class has a Workbook, and each participant gets a CD of their tracks mixed with SFX and MZK a few days after the event.
Here are the ones we're considering:

CHARACTER VOICE!: The Animation and Character Voice Master’s Class
This master’s class is based on the only character voice curriculum accredited on the university level. Focus is on understanding ‘archetypes’, the 6 elements of a character voice, and on creating and developing vocal characterizations.

NINE CRITICAL SKILLS FOR VOICE OVER EXCELLENCE MASTER’S CLASS
Text Analysis/Sense of Scene, Relaxation, Energy, Reading & Voice, Acting, Character & Accents, Microphone Technique, Business, and Improvisation. Participants work through the nine critical skills through lecture, demonstration, group and partner exercises, and recording.

				| Not pratical for me to attend, obvious reasons. Any testimonials from masterclass graduates? I don't mean the "phew it was so great" variety, I suspect from a man of this calibre that's a given. I'm always interested to hear where classes, courses and coaching have taken people in a practical way.
I'm sure all places for this particular class could be filled 20 times over.

				| Did a day-long one on VO maketing in late June. For the $95 I plunked down, I'd say I got about $20 worth. I'd like to hit the one DB's putting together. But distance be an issue for me as well. | |

				| Working on a nice price. Tomorrow I'm going to talk to the people I know who have a bead on a conference room.
Boston tends to be damned parsimonious, and I've got to get Mister Fraley his fee without losing my shirt.

Recently in NYC it was $440 per person per Master's Class, I bleeb.
There are two one-day classes-- separate affairs.

				| Well, I guess we can't judge a book by it's cover, huh?
By the way Deirdre, I am also a traffic reporter for Metro Networks here in San Diego. Currently doing the (ugh) split shift!
How long have you been with Metro?
I would love to give up one of my shifts as I'm exhausted but not enough vo work.....yet!
Any advice would be very appreciated!
 Thanks!
 Tori

				| I took two back-to-back seminars with Pat a few years ago and they were informative and very entertaining. He's a champ at creating character voices. Of course he's quite the character himself. He also has a lot of experience doing audio books if you get a chance to ask him about that.
If you got the dough, go.
