Thanks Jeff.... I read and re-read it, and then printed a copy for my studio...
Good stuff!

How many here use a multi-band compressor or limiter? If so, what kind, and what system are you using it with (ie Protools, MOTU, etc.)

I use software versions all the time.
Audition 2.0 has a nice multi-band compressor built in (made by Izotope)
Izotope's Ozone is pretty good. It's more than just a multi-band though, it's sort of an all in one plugin solution.
I know people who like Waves C4 compressor as well. _________________ Hart Voice Overs Blog

I use Sound Forge 8 and use the Waves LinMB plug-in as well as their R-Comp compressor and the L2 Limiter. I love the Voxengo Voxformer VST plug-in. I use it on (voice track only) all my radio production for the local station I do work for. |

I've been using Ozone as well. I had some help getting a good preset that works with my voice and environment. It will definitely do the job until IK releases a Universal Binary version of T-RackS. |

I use dbAudioware plugins with Goldwave. A multiband compressor is one of the tools included in the dbAudioware bundle. Good stuff. No problems, just easy to learn, easy to use and understand and about as trouble free as digital editing software can be. Although I must admit, sometimes I feel left out whenever discussions of bizarre digital editing software problems come up. |

I don't dither artifacts - but I've been known to dawdle and tarry from time to time. No, what I was referring to was discussions about difficulties with editing programs that were difficult to adjust or get working right. Sometimes it sounds like some of that stuff is evil, wicked, mean and nasty - almost like ya gotta beat it with a stick to make it obey. When I read those kinds of complaints or comments, I just smile and think how nice it is to not have to fight that kind of monster. |
