Quoted from a recent email sent out by V123:
Quote: | During the next few days, we will be sending a price survey to our non-union talent database (more than 40,000 talents). |
Yup, I just went back and re-read it...40 THOUSAND non-union talent.

That doesn't really surprise me after hearing that there are over 20,000 people doing voiceover in Los Angeles alone. |

That's odd.. if you do a talent search with no parameters, only 3,600 or so come up. Is it more b/c the basic clients aren't included in the search? I actually hadn't thought of that before... _________________ Caryn Clark... The Hip Chick Voice!

An understandable mistake: there are a lot of extra zeroes at V123.
They did make that same mistake with another note a few months ago. They eventually corrected it to read 4,000.
But 20,000 in LA alone? Where's that number from, pray tell. |

Ha. Let's see one of those 20,000 dare to do a MARDEN'S spot! _________________ Greg Littlefield

Yes, I saw that one too, and I thought, "...wow what a huge jump from about 3,500 to 40,000 members. " 4000 makes mo' sense.
Should be an interesting survey.
It does my little heart glad to see that not as many seem to be jumping all over some of those ridiculously lowball job posts.
Perhaps the light is turning "on" in kindergartenland. _________________ Bobbin Beam

That would be all the former athletes doing color commentary for sports of all sorts
Robert, you must be pleased with how the Ottawa Senators are playing...

Ducks-Sabres for the Cup.
Of course, I also forecast Todd Ellis to voice the Geiko ads.
What do I know? |

Sorry if I wasn't clear. The 20,000 was people doing voiceover in L.A., not people on V123 in L.A. doing voiceover.
I believe I got the number from an interview that was done recently with an agent at CESD. |

Well, these days every radio DJ with a computer and a microphone is a voice over. It reminds me of that Eminem song, "And there's a million of us just like me... who dress like me; walk, talk and act like me
and just might be the next best thing but not quite me!" _________________ Hart Voice Overs Blog

I've had three jocks I used to work with call me this month to check out my studio...cause they were gonna do voice overs too ...and that's here in little old NH! (they all are absolutely amazed that I make a living doing voice work full time...don't know if that's a bass-akwards slap at me, or the biz we're in). _________________ Moe Egan
