Specs provided for a recent audition:
Quote: | male, age range 40-55, caucasian & african american talent, no dialects or ethnic sound, lower register - Dennis Hasert was referenced authoritative yet warm, sincere, reassuring, compassionate paternal sounding - but without sound old a "we'll help you take care of this" kind of sound / read without being saccrine-y. |
Just before my brain finished processing the question "why the hell do they want me to sound like (former Speaker of the House) Dennis Hastert?", I recognized that they were asking for the smooth tones of actor Dennis Haysbert.
I'm hoping that VOs everywhere aren't trying to dig up reference audio of the first guy. _________________ Great Voice. Great Choice. For Voice Talking and stuff.

What I don't understand is the inclusion on race descriptors even though they wanted a non-ethnic sound.
So Native Americans and people of Korean descent need not apply?
It is just audio, n'est-ce pas? _________________ DBCooperVO.com

It's for TV but the specs are for the VO only.
Yeah, Deebs, I did note that after a second look. I guess our own AnthonyVO need not apply...because everyone knows that Hispanics, um, don't have deep voices.
(Yeah, right. That guy shakes paint off the walls when he speaks.) _________________ Great Voice. Great Choice. For Voice Talking and stuff.
