I'm doing another iteration of my demo CD. I'm taking a poll: what info do you put on the cover of your CD case, and what info do you put on the actual CD itself? And, has anyone put any info on the inside cover?
In the past, I've included the following info. My current CD case is a clear cover, and the info below is printed on the CD itself:
- My logo design, which includes my name and logo (THE Hip Chick Voice!) and the chick
- My Studio and ISDN numbers (ISDN may not be useful, but at least indicates I have my own studio with ISDN if I'm listing it on my CD).
- My email address
- My web site
- the words "Voice Over Demos" as well as the words "Commercial" "Promo" "Narration" and "Radio Imaging"
Anything else? Where should it all go? Cover? Cd?
I'm also sending a cover letter/resume when sending this out.
Advice? Suggestions?
Thanks! Caryn _________________ Caryn Clark... The Hip Chick Voice!

I'd say anything that will make it easiest for someone to contact you. Sounds like you have the right idea. Name, phone(s), web site, email address. Don't forget the spine of the CD. Here's what I did.

Here's mine for reference. I'd do some things differently next time, but it is what it is for now

Jeff:
Way to put the "mad" in "mad skillz", d00d.
Lou and Don: Thanks for sharing! Both look great and I'd be interested in seeing what tweaks Lou would do with his. _________________ Greg Littlefield

I think of Harold whenever I see the crescent moon out a window.

In hindsight, even though I would've stuck with the same artistic style, I don't really like the whole "Voice Hero" thing as I think it would have been much more appropriate for branding character work, not commercial work, which is almost all of what I've done to date.
The name choice was based on advice I got from a few people when I started out, but there's something a little "aggressive" about it that bugs me now.
I also would have left off my contact info and left space for a decal such as you could make using clear tape with a Brother or Dymo label printer. My agent don't dig that my number's on there and not hers, so it probably would have been best to go the label route that way I could do it however it needs to be done at any given time.
P.S. Whenever I think about those label makers, I always think back to the Dymo plastic dealies from the '70s. As a kid, I wanted to label EVERYthing in the house, and back then it was a nightmare trying to get the backing off the tape part. But man those were cool! _________________ Lou Zucaro

Don G., omg! What all do you have in those packages?! That's pretty damn impressive. Does that thing fit in a regular CD rack?
I'm in the process of getting my new image into graphic form, but it should be complete soon. Thanks for motivation to step up my game!
I have to admit Lou, when I see your logo/avatar/labeling, the first thing I think of is animation/character demo as well. There's always next time... _________________ Donovan
