There I am, in Staples' mailing label section, when out of the corner of my eye I see... Connie Terwilliger! My heart just stopped-- I was so delighted at the surprise!
I spun around with a big smile on my face, ready to greet her warmly when I see... a complete stranger looking at me as if I were insane.
I'm guessing there's probably a Staples closer to Connie's house than the one in Granada Hills (about 2 hour's drive away from her, in the middle of the night).

I had that happen once where we used to live. Only without the urge to hug...
Andrea and I were standing in the check-out line at the grocery store when the lady in front of us turned around to look at something next to her. She looked like one of my storied exes, so I cautiously whispered to Andrea, "I think that's so-and-so".
Andrea answered back, "SO-AND-SO?!?!?!?" as loudly as she could in an apparent effort to instantly confirm my suspicion. When our subject didn't turn around with a puzzled look on her face, we knew I was mistaken. And relieved...
And it's funny that I get that hometown feeling whenever I see Granada Hills mentioned. It's been 35 years since I lived there.
disclaimer: The person's name wasn't really "so-and-so". I changed it to protect... well... ME. _________________ Greg Littlefield
