For those of you who don't know ITV, the UK's first commercial TV broadcaster is 50 years old. Tonight at 8pm as part of the celebrations a episode of one of their top rating drama's "The Bill" set in a London Police station was performed and broadcast live. Over 30 actors and a crew of 300 for 1 hour including commercials break were flying by the seats of their pants. Two stunts including a car crash and one performer falling from a balcony. There were a couple of "cut aways" to a clock on a wall in an office to establish the time.
Any actor or behind the camera person will appreciate the work involved to pull this off. Needless to say there were a few errors but they certainly did not detract from the plot or the tension of the story which was a hostage situation. It's not all poor reality TV over here you'll be thrilled to know. |
