And look Simon Cowell in the eye when you meet him.

I don't generally claim to be a fan of this kind of performance, but I wept. _________________ DBCooperVO.com

I got goosebumps. I love seeing such talent in the "as yet undiscovered" stage. Thanks for posting that. |

What makes this so great is his natural, unassuming humility. |

I saw this the other day, and it bothered me to see that humble and wonderful talent in front of those stinky judges, even though they liked him in the end.
Apologies for my crabbiness, but those guys and their ilk really burn my grits. |

Unbelievable. Period.
I don't like Opera at all, but that guy gave me chills and a tear or two. Really inspiring. It made me listen to that same song, Nessun Dorma, by Pavorotti and then by the 3 Tenors. It truly is a beautiful song and this guy from the cell phone store did it justice.

The look on the faces when Paul announced what he was going to sing: $100,000.00 Pounds Sterling.
The judges faces as the audience cheered and gave a standing ovation: $1,000,000.00 Pounds Sterling.
Simon's face as he had to eat crow and Paul's VOICE: Priceless!!!!

Wow- so many of you not liking opera?? I could listen to that stuff all day...love it! Of course, I'm still a big fan of Peter Gabriel, so take this with a grain of salt! _________________ Threadjackers local 420

I've liked classical music since about 14 or so (thanks Dad), but I never shared his love for opera. This guy...ridiculous. _________________ Donovan

I'm not ashamed to admit I wept through this performance as well, but then I've loved Nessun Dorma for many years. It's this aria, in fact, that made me want to grow up to be a tenor. God had other ideas, which I suppose in the end was better for my voiceover career; but I'd still give almost anything to be able to sing in that range.
How wonderful to see this gentle man do so very well; though I'm with you Mary on the judges thing. Gives me the willies. _________________ Be well,

Oh no! We've got an uglybloke who thinks he can sing. We can't really judge him, we'll sneer, it'll make good TV! Trust me that's what they were thinking and that's what the majority were thinking. Fortunately prejudice is waiting in the wings to sneak up on the shallow and make them look thoroughly ridiculous! Didn't it just? Amanda Holden (lady judge) actually looked winded. I'm convinced that the judges and most of the audience learned far more than they will ever admit ..... I love it. I speak as one who knows, as an Uglybloke ......
All hail to the John Merrick lookalikes! All hail! |
