I was gratified to see tears in a few places, in the audience and on Amanda's face, I do believe.
When I first saw this, it was embedded in a blog and I had no idea what he was going to sing.
When Nessun Dorma began, and began so well, I was flattened from the start.

So why didn't Simon offer him a job with Il Devo right there on the spot?? Paul's career has just taken off. Of ourse he'll go a lot further than Simon's group. Although Il Devo has an incredibly talented group of guys, and not bad looking either. I also loved Paul humility. I'm concerned about his innocense. I hope he hires the right "handlers."

| I'm a little surprised that many of you seem to be dissing Simon in this clip. I thought he was fine (especially compared to usual) and didn't seem to have any negative reaction at all prior to the performance. It was other male judge who had the rolling eyes and dismissive look toward the other two when Paul said what he was about to do. Granted, Simon certainly has his moments of rudeness. I just didn't feel that this was one of them. |

I am not an animal I am a man........and if you would like to vote on what sort of man, just call the following number with the answer to this simple question.
Am I
a) lucky to get a chance at stardom
b) an odd guy who the judges thought they could humiliate
c) someone we will never hear from again.
Just call ************ to vote and remember to dial carefully as a large percentage of the inflated costs of calling this number will be required by the presenters and the production company.

That is how you step up to the mic and just do what you know to do.
Like he needed those judges to say he was through. _________________ Ben

Paul has been working hard.
Take a look at this bit from the program from Aida at the Bath Opera. _________________ DBCooperVO.com

"He has spent two summers touring Northern Italy training with one of the major opera schools, and has taken part in masterclasses with Vilma Vernocchi, Katia Ricciarelli and Luciano Pavarotti."
In other words he TRAINED!
Gee. what a concept!
He took his natural talent and then went to learn from the masters!
YAY for him!
Great lesson Deebs! Thanks!

To paraphrase what Simon said at the end of the clip, I just love these shows where ordinary people come out and exhibit extraordinary talent. That clip had me in goose-pimply tears from the start. _________________ Joe Rodriguez, Bilingual Voice Actor | The Voiceover Thespian Blog |

While he did a wonderful job for an amateur, there's nothing like listening to the Master himself, Luciano Pavarotti. From Turnadot:
Nessun Dorma
Gets me every time.

True, Bruce. There's nothing like Pavarotti. But I think I am even more moved by a guy who works at the mobile phone store performing it. Kind of like how I am more excited about high school basketball than college ball, college ball more than pro. Might be just me.
