Brian Hart recommended I post an introduction in this forum.
I began working with VO talent while working for WYSP 94.1 FM in Philadelphia as a broadcast engineer. My primary function while contracting with WYSP was as remote engineer for the Philadelphia Eagles. I had a great time covering every game from Sept. 2001- Jan. 2004 before moving to LA. While at WYSP I met Howard Parker. My engineer friend at WYSP and I installed Howard's first studio in NYC.
Well, now Howard is on the West Coast, and so am I. We installed his home studio out here, and Howard told his contacts about my services, including his manager Jason Marks of jmtalent.com. Things have grown from there.
I'll pop on once in a while when I have a spare moment, and will be happy to answer questions technical in nature. _________________ If it sounds good, it is good.

Nice to meet you George. Good bunch of folks here.
Edit: After reading Deebs response, I also use a Musicam Prima LT for ISDN.

Several Zephyrs sold in the last week on ebay. Kinda weird. I think somebody closed up shop or something.
And one Telos One that went for $416 I should have snapped that one up. Oh well.

There have been some fraudulent Zephyr sales on Ebay, believe it or not. Was the one that went for $416 from "Germansville, PA" or something like that?
I have been watching them as well, and they avg. $1200-$1500 for the blackface models. ISDN is STILL THE BEST WAY to make a reliable connection, and I remind my clients of this. The Internet is not an equivalent when it comes to a consistent, direct connection between two points. In fact, corporate video conferencing systems are still using ISDN, usually 3 or 4 lines for the desired bandwidth. _________________ If it sounds good, it is good.

The black Zephyrs last week went for 1200 to 1400 or so.
A Telos One is a POTS hybrid, not an ISDN codec. I guess I should have clarified that. That particular model goes for about $700 new. Anyway, it was some podcaster who realized he didn't need it. _________________ Hart Voice Overs Blog

Hello George,
I'm using an AudioTX, but only for ISDN service. I have Source Connect Standard for IP connections. (Thus, my vote recorded above is for Source Connect, since the question was about IP connections.) _________________ Be well,

Much like Deebs, I'm doin' it old school with a Telos Zephyr. It's what my clients want, so it makes me (and them) happy. _________________ Doug Turkel (tur-KELL)

Hi,
Welcome George!!
I'm a Telos Zephyr Xstream owner myself.
I got mine off eBay last October, and I can attest to the fact, after watching for weeks, and bidding on a couple of them before finally winning, that there were a number of them on eBay that were fraudulent (sp? too lazy to look it u posts. Most definitely. _________________ Caryn Clark... The Hip Chick Voice!

What are the signs of these fraud units George? Other than no seller history etc.... This might be helpful info to others who might be looking for a box. _________________ Ben

We had a thread about this very thing recently, and I'll be darned if I can find it.
Some guys keeps offering the same codec and doesn't deliver or something.
I think Jeff set the record straight-- I'll see if he remembers. _________________ DBCooperVO.com
