I'll be brief. Clear Channel is using super short radio spots. Doubleplusungood.
Okay, it's a great thing if it means stations will play more music, but I doubt that. I've always considered listening to a :60 ad to be a form of torture.

They've been playing with that for a little while here. It's not really catching on.

Read the article-- it's on the front page of The Boston Globe today.

This is supposed to be a 5-second spot:
Quote:
"This Saturday at Rain, it's a glamorous VIP afterparty hosted by Fergie. Visit rainnightlife.com."

I'd love to the the WBZ salespeople try to sell 5-second spots!
They'd try to get a phone number in it.

As a long-time production manager for one of the Clear Channel clusters I have had mucho experience with "adlets". They're designed to be nothing more than a slug line or audio logo, if you will. They were (or are) sold in groups of 25 or more. They're suppposed to be postioned away from other spots so that one, and only one, would run between two tunes. No station jingle, no jock B.S. Just song-adlet-song. Part of Clear Channel's "Less Is More" strategy. Do they work? Sure! But no better or worse than a regular well-placed :30 or :60 spot buy. It's simply another marketing ploy....kinda like your demo or web site.

You just know there's going to be one or two with "dubba-you dubba-you dubba-you dot..."

As a radio listener I'd prefer song-adlet-song to song/song/song then...

SFX: car falling off a bridge.
"Gee, my brakes are worn, I wonder where I can get my brakes fixed for less!"
"Looking for brakes fixed for less, ma'am."
"Why, yes"
"Then look no further than BRAKES FOR LESS. We provide our customers with brakes...for Less."
"Gee, Mr. Brakes for Less, man, how can you provide such service selection and price."
"Because at Brakes for Less, we really do care."
