So you've got a voiceover job: four minutes' narrative over a European instructional video.
No prob, right? They send the script with both the original Spanish and the translated copy. They send the video. You watch and listen twice; you make some notes.
An hour's job, right? No prob.
You toss it all onto your ProTools (which - ominously - begins to tremble and quake).
You orate.
Then you move pieces around to fit the images, but ProTools is freezing up alarmingly often. Then you realize that the Spanish voiceover is saying much, much more than the Spanish script has him saying. You notice your script has one paragraph where the original has five. You worry that while you're narrating the part about "just rinse under running water and it's as good as new" at precisely the correct time-mark, the video is showing an arid desert.
Four minutes' talk.
Four hours' frustration.
(But four weeks of Moosehead; so what the heck?)
Just sharing. |

Robert,
Which reminds me of the old joke: Why is 6 afraid of 7? Because 789. _________________ Be well,

I've got to admit, one thing I never expected from this forum was the amount of original humor that "cleanses the gut" every now and then... you guys are hilarious or mad or both and I'm loving every second--I feel like I have finally found my "species" so the immediate question is, is are we going to heaven or what?

I know these forays into our humor base drives some people nuts! (you know who you are, and I love you. You know that, too.)
I like to think of this place as a country store with barrels and rocking chairs to sit on and a potbellied stove that keeps things warm in the winter. And as folks drop by, they share and converse and solve problems and enjoy each other's company.
When a member here has a real issue, it's the polite thing to not go too far afield, but I think for the most part that we end up back on track.

Yes it's true we can get off the topic but then someone makes a food reference, and soon were back on track. Oh excuse me it's time for a midnight snack.

All this tomfoolery reminds me of the old one, "Why do elephants wear tennies?"
"Because nineies are too small and elevenies are too big."
Pass me a cracker will ya Robert? Much obliged.
