I just saw the show open, and my first thought was to jump on the VO-BB and let everyone kow about the segment. Obviously , Liz beat me to it. (Thanks, Liz!)
Man, you gotta get up early (on a Sunday, no less) to beat this crowd! _________________ Doug Turkel (tur-KELL)

Great piece on CBS. What would be the reason for an American narrator and a British one? I got my copy of the book at 1PM by UPS on Saturday and it took about 16 hours to read it. Great fun if you like that kind of thing. |

I didn't get to see this piece, but I see that Brett mentions "not lucrative".
Did they say that?
Audiobooks are a tough way to make a buck considering the price structure.
I was at the audiobook caucus at the AFTRA convention.
I know there's a per-hour session rate, but I am trying to see if there is pressure from the publishers to create a per-finished-hour rate. _________________ DBCooperVO.com

Yes, they did say that
When asked, both Jim Dale & Ron McLarty said that this was NOT a luicrative part of VO.
They do it for the love of it.

Liz - you mean 'not'? Either you forgot that little word, or I don't understand...and either is possible! |

A couple of years ago at APAC in Chicago, a New York voice agent said she will not take on a talent if they aren't doing either other voice work or other acting in addition to audio books because you cannot make a living from audiobooks alone. I wonder what someone like Scott Brick would say to that. But I guess for us peons, that'd be the case. _________________ Elaine
