Sorry to hear that Chuck. But, you will bounce back with no problems I am certain. _________________ Ben

That's OK Chuck. You were there...and will be again.
Years ago when I was in school in DC, I was chosen out of a casting call for a local Blatz Beer commercial. The copy went something like "Now if I may hammer a point home.." as I slammed a hammer into my open hand...reached down while continuing to look directly at the camera and pour a perfect glass of beer while reading teleprompted copy. I had plenty of experience at an early age of putting the perfect head on the glass of beer and it paid off. I was chosen....and the ad was done in two takes.
My class buds were all gathered around the tube the next weekend for the debut of the spot on "Movie Blue." But when the ad came on, They not only dubbed in a "real" voice, they only showed close-ups of my hands and "talent."
Lately, my most popular request is, "...but don't use your regular voice!"

Makes you want to rip the head off some unfortunate passing animal, or ventilate your monitor with the nearest sharp object (a pen in my case. LCD monitors don't take kindly to being poked in anger). But once the anger and bruised ego subsides, the bank balance in always there as compensation.
It's happened to me three times with major projects. Months of hard work down the drain because of bankruptcy, infighting and the apparent selling power of "star" talent over us mere mortals.
Oh well.
Sometimes it works in reverse though. Recently a local voice recorded a TV commercial.....and then went on vacation. Of course, the client decides to change two words in the script and then found themselves without their voice. I was more than happy to help them with their predicament.

Great storys guys. I feel better now. Was talking after a session with another VO today (I was the producer in this case) who was going thru the same thing...and he's a "major league guy". Guess it's just one of those things you have to learn to deal with....now I just have to collect on the portion of the contract that I've executed so far. I'm sure things will work out for the best in the end.
BTW - Greg L...nothing for the reel I'm afraid since they used another voice in the final prodution. S-OK. I've got more to work with from elsewhere.

France. House shopping in Normandy with cousins from Wales.
Thanks Liz! Betcha I'll have questions. My wife's cousin is all but a native speaker...but I don't get to speak with her much...long distance and all. _________________ Wicked huge.....in India.
