Bob I'm so glad all of your family are okay. It's true each day is special, and we need to let our family and friends know how much we love and appreciate them.

Bob, I'm glad your family is ok. When I saw the news report I immediately thought of your family & friends back home & hoped that none of them were involved. A sad & scary event.

I am glad everyone and their own is OK. The number of bridges structurally flawed is coming out now. It really makes you think! Especially when going over any bridge!

There are 4 or 5 here in NJ that have apparently been designated "deficient" as well (but don't worry folks, they're safe!) Gasp

Yeah.....

So far so good. My nephew and family are nearby in West St. Paul. We haven't heard otherwise. It's been a "full house" time around here with other family in town, so we've been missing each other and just crazy busy.

That IS great news Bob. Happy to hear everyone is alright. I immediately called my late brothers wife to find out if she was O.K., she has been driving into Minneapolis three days a week from Mankato for her ailing Mother.

Everything is fine for all my relatives.

As for Utah Bob - Utah is unique.. in that it IS unique... Any of the four seasons may be found somewhere in the state at almost anytime of the year. Then, there is the uniqueness of the dominant culture... that alone is a l-o-o-o-o-o-n-g story in and of itself. And, I keep asking myself, "why am I here?"

The answer always come back to me - "Why Not?"

This is a serious question Frank, honestly, no side at all.

What is the dominant culture in Utah? I would have assumed it would be English speaking American followed by Native American, no?

David,

The reference is to what is commonly called The Mormon Church.

But the Mormons like you to say The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints ... which clearly is a mouthful when writing news for radio.

Of course, how stupid of me, sorry....yes indeed, we used to get 17 year old elders of the church popping by to tell us of the evils of alcohol and nicotine when I lived in Glasgow.......Glasgow is one of the worlds alcoholism and lung cancer capitals of the world. I guess the message fell on deaf ears!

In my stupidity when I posted my query I wasn't associating Utah with Salt Lake City.....very silly of me . Embarrassed

That's OK, most Americans couldn't associate Glasgow with Scotland!

(NOT in this group of course, but the teaching of geography is seriously lacking in our school system these days!) Angry

Sorry, DB...was that going against Rule 1...sorry....just one of my peeves Lips Are Sealed

Truth is not against Rule #1.

Politicking is.

Such as: assigning blame based on association.

All is well in this thread.

Don't you just love Frank's new avatar? That background really sets the color in his face. Sorry for the thread diversion.
