Hi there, planning my trip to Milwaukee for MCA-I ProTrack from Sept. 18-23rd and want to have an ISDN studio to call if necessary.

I have spoken to about three places fairly close to the downtown Hilton that have ISDN, but pretty tight schedules. Was wondering if anyone had a personal recommendation. Just in case, dontcha you know. (Getting into the Wisconsin accent.)

Also, in the process, I noticed that Jack Shaw is/was close to Milwaukee, but his phone is ringing fast busy. Anyone know his status?

Connie,

I'm pretty sure VO-BB member sdelgo is in Milwaukee. I don't know if he has ISDN, but he does a lot imaging work, so he may.

(edited to fix name)

Connie,

Enjoy yourself in my hometown. I left there in 1970, so I'm not much help with ISDN. But, I know the restaurants (local) are still fabulous and there are many wonderful sights to see there.

Connie,
I gave up my ISDN about 18 months ago while paring down my imaging work and getting into more musical session work in Chicago. Off the top of my noggin I can think of 5th Floor Recording or 5th Floor Studios not too sure of the name- which is on Milwaukee St. approx 3/4 mile from the Hilton. I don't have any contacts there so I'm not too familiar with the setup there.
Hope this helps you out some.

Steve

Yes, I spoke to Ray at 5th Floor. There are two others nearby - Independent Studios on North Jefferson and Tanner Monagle on North Market Street...so I think I am set if something comes up!

We have some social activities during the week, perhaps if you are around, you could pop by for one of them and say hello?

I'd really love to meet up. I have a few session dates in Chicago that week so hopefully nothing conflicts. I'll keep in touch.

I came across links to these sites lately, both with lists of ISDN-equipped facilities in various parts of the country/world. Hope they can be of some help...

Connie,
Enjoy my hometown, Milwaukee is GREAT! As said earlier, the restaurants are FAB-O, the bars are excellent fun, and the people are wonderful!
For a real German treat try Carl Raasch's restaurant. I left there in 1984, but return often as I own a lake home nearby. Sorry I'm missing the MCAI conference, but I am going there in a couple of weeks on property business, and there's only so much time...

Bobbin,

No kidding? A fellow Milwaukeean? How cool is that?

Yup - Carl Raasch's is the best for authentic German cuisine. But, there's also great American fare in all parts of the city.

And, how could you be in Milwaukee and not try the sausage or the cheese? Even the milk is different than anywhere I've ever been. And frozen custard. If you haven't had it, it's a must try. And there are still a couple of the old custard stands still operating there. Even if you ARE on a diet, you'll never experience anything quite like it.

Can you tell I truly miss the restaurants there?

You say you have a Lakeside home there. Whitefish Bay???

Doc- The four food groups in Wisco are your meats, your sweets, your cheeses, and your beer!
No my home isn't on the "big lake", it's on a small one called, "Pretty Lake" in Dousman, near Oconomowoc, about 40 miles from downtown Milwaukee.

Bobbin,

Been to Oconomowoc many times. Nice there and away from the big city. May I say that Wisconsin has several very nice lakes as well (excluding Lake Michigan). Wink

Diane,
