I just got off the phone with Adobe looking to purchase Audition for a travel rig. It seems they are taking pre-orders for AA 3, due in November, and nothing else. Nope, you can't buy an older version, what. so. ever.
In the meantime you can download a trial version of AA 2 to hold you over.
Just letting you know. |

Are you saying you can't find it at any other vendors? Or just that it doesn't make sense for someone to buy 2.0 when 3 is just around the corner? |

After reading the cryptic description of AA 3.0, I will wait - and probably wait some more. What I have works well now, why change? "If it ain't broke, don't fix it", is my motto lately.
I have played with AA 2.0 and found the so-called greatest version was unacceptable with the problems they created when adding MIDI. I only use it when doing some VST programs I desire (Rewire, DMN, etc.). If the upgrade to 3.0 is as much trouble as 2.0 - I will be happy to stay using AA 1.5 for a long time.
Good luck Adobe, but in my personal opinion, I have not been impressed with your quote-end quote upgrades in the past... I will wait and see.

Honestly, I didn't check any other vendors. What I couldn't figure out was that they are not offering any version of AA to purchase AT ALL until November. Why wouldn't they offer AA 2 now, plus an upgrade for later installation?
Makes no sense to me. |

Because Dan-O, they call it "intelligence". If they make you wait, you will want it more... Also, they (Adobe) get more of your money the way they are doing it.
I will wait a bit longer thank-you.
AA 2 is available at Sweetwater and Musicians Friend to name just two.

Why would I want it more in November, if I need it now? How would they make more, if I am forced to use the trial version for free, rather than buy it now? (Also, from what I have read, they are offering 3 at the same price as 2 at $349.00)
FYI, Sweetwater is currently not carrying it and Musicians Friend has a 22 day back order for AA 2. The more I look into this, the more I get P.O'd. Amazon is offering a copy AA 2 for $790.00. |

Is there a specific reason that you want Audition? Sony Sound Forge Audio Station looks pretty good at $59 if you don't need lot's of bells and whistles (and multi-track capabilities). |

I record with Pro Tools and edit with AA. I was brought up with razor blades, then 4 tracks, on to SAW, SAW II, SAW II Plus, Cool Edit, Cool Edit Pro, and Audition. I am just too damned tired to learn more about PT or any other DAW. |

Surely that adult ed. class you're taking would allow you to legitimately purchase this. |

I have AA2 AND 1.5 and I have to say... some features on2 are nice... but I love the ease of use of 1.5 (sigh).
