Ack! Peer pressure!

Just spent some time wrestling with MS-SQL Express on my server (been a long time since I've done that...), but it's working now. _________________ Greg Littlefield

Does anyone know the ins & outs of Atom vs rss 2.0? My blog has an atom feed url and for some applications I'm required to have an rss 2.0 feed. My blog is on Blogger, and hosted on my server. In the Blogger FAQ it says
| Quote: | | All site feeds are published in Atom 1.0 format. However, if you add ?alt=rss to the end of any site feed URL, you can get the same feed in RSS 2.0 format. |
but it doesn't work for me - that is,
http://mcmvoices.com/blog/atom.xml? alt=rss
is not accepted in the application I'm trying to use (and I've tried adding a space between xml and ?, or a / - nothing works.
Blogger will let you move your blog to blogspot which has more features and is customisable, but from what I've read the move can be rather painful. |

Mary,
One solution might be to use Feedburner. That service will convert your feed to any needed formation.
Here's the URL to sign up for their service...
http://www.feedburner.com/fb/a/home
I think you'll find everything you need. _________________ Be well,

Thanks Bob - according to Feedburner my RSS feed url is http://mcmvoices.com/blog/rss.xml but Blogrush still isn't accepting it.
You know, you can waste a lot of time with this stuff. I think I will get back to work... |

OLD THREAD - just an update... after using a few different readers... i settled on Google's... since I'm in GMAIL most of the day anyway, one less place i gotta log into... and i didn't like some of the "desktop" ones i saw.
ANYWHO - I'm sub'd to the following:
*Jack Yan* on Vox
Jeffrey Kafer Voice blog
The Voiceover Boblog
The *Rognog* Blog
MCM Voices* Voiceove
uh... so far... thinking about getting one of my own, but more as a diary of fleeting thoughts than a full blown vo blog - for fear of not having time to update it as often as i'd like... BUT, at long last, I'm considering it... THAT and also getting a dark suit that I can pee in as well... so i can get that warm feeling and not have anyone notice... either one.
PEACE.

Anthony,
If you decide to start a blog, I'll be one of your most regular readers. Let me know if there's anything I can do to help. _________________ Be well,

Well, since you brought this thread back from the dead....
http://www.eldorec.com/eldoblog/atom.xml
It's a techy one, but I focus it towards the needs of the VO artist...

Anthony,
At the time of this original thread, I had no blog. On this particular day I can proudly say I had 193 visitors, and the doggone thing is.... I have no idea why.
I could have 12 tomorrow. Gotta work on that.
I think I got picked up on Stumble-Upon. Can't look a gift horse in the mouth.
Anthony, my RSS Feed for "Voice Acting in Vegas":
http://feeds.feedburner.com/Voice-actingInVegas
-or-
http://www.courvo.biz/atom.xml
....and I second Bob's encouragement: I would subscribe to YOUR blog in a NY minute. Just don't let him talk you into WordPress....TypePad is much better ;-}

thx every1!
what i'm looking for is something that i can customize... i mean REALLY customize to the point where I can use CSS or just upload a reference HTML or XML template for it to read. I need it to integrate into my site's design somewhat flawlessly since continuity is important to me.
Somewhat like my Dada Mail:
http://www.anthonyvo.com/cgi-bin/avocado/mail.cgi/list/avocadonews/
Althought it's a cgi proggie, it reads the HTML template that I reference and boom - instant visual integration.
And I'd also like to have it on-site and not off-site. Maybe i need to check 1st with my host.

Anthony,
A very good place to start. And no, contrary to Dave's assertion above, I'm not going to try to "talk you in to" Wordpress. I've had a very good experience with it, but others haven't. Use what works best with your host and your requirements. There are a bunch of options that will give you great flexibility as far as look, hosting location, etc. _________________ Be well,
