There are a bunch of recording booth / quiet area ideas on this board which are all great but I just came across one that I thought some people here might find of interest. This one is made of PVC pipe, moving blankets and clamps.
I believe I may set one of these up myself. _________________ Joe Rodriguez, Bilingual Voice Actor | The Voiceover Thespian Blog |

I tried to put this one in my suitcase... it didn't fit. Darn.
It does WORK however.

Thanks Joe for that link. I'm almost at the planning a booth stage with next to no $$$ to do it.

And if DIY isn't your thing, try this portable sound booth. |

Yeah, that's a clever way to hang soundblankets, but he's using a MD421...I'd like to hear that rig work with a LCD in such a reverberant room (actually I can imagine it...) _________________ Skype: globalvoiceover

nice VO booth link there Joe.
that kind of setup will indeed "deaden" room by reducing room reflections - fantastic for VO work - but it will not treat noise problems.
still, it's a great DIY solution to the space challenged folks. |

Yeah Brian,
but that's just around the mic, not a "booth" per-se..... I'm just sayin'
(and FYI: for the size of it, it weights a ton.)

Sure thing...certainly not for a lot of applications and in reality if you are doing this kind of work you owe it to yourself and your peace of mind to find a closet or something so you can focus on the craft part and not the distractions :o) _________________ Brian Haymond

ya know ... if you made the uprights out of 3 pieces instead of one - you could easily fit the whole thing in a small duffel. _________________ "i know philip banks": todd ellis

OK, here is one of those you can buy the booth (and the prices are fairly nice) or there is a way to get some plans for a booth you can adjust to your needs things...
The first concept is the "buy it for a good price" thing: http://www.clearsonic.com/index.htm
Although I am not a big fan of reflective surfaces, these ClearSonics really do the job for many things. Or, you can buy the panels and create your own version for less than a third the price of what WhisperRoom charges.
Now, the second or "DIY Plans" thing: http://www.dawbox.com/DAWBOOTH.htm
I have no experience with these projects, but it looks like it will do the job and for $600 to $800.00 USD I would hope so... I do believe I would take a cue from WhisperRoom here and create a ventilation box with baffles to put "air" into the room.
Toodles
