Hi fellow vo-bb ers

I have an issue with V123 and their rating system (Not again! but this is a bit different)

I got rated a 4 on Friday, low and behold on Monday its a 2.

I ask V123 "customer service" to ask why it has changed.

V123 customer service says "We want the clients to feel free to grade the auditions without having to explain their decision, or feel under pressure. Thank you in advance for your understanding."

Huh? The clients??? I was under the impression we PAID money not the voice seeker.

I think the fact that you can rerate is totally open to abuse.
1. What assurances do we have the system has not been hacked?
2. What if he/she rings offers less money and then threatens to rerate.

I am being sane? Your thoughts?

Thanks

I'm no longer a paid member of V123, but I would assume that if clients only are rating the talents, then there should be no danger of hacking. And I would hope that V123 has advised clients that talent ratings are NOT to be based upon monetary bids.

I would take your concerns back to V123. They used to have a presence on this board, but I haven't seen them in a while.

Yes I have taken up my concerns with V123.

I think the easy thing to do is not to audition and only reply to direct leads.

I mention hacking because I believe it has happened on V123 and Voices.com.

I just think that its all in the voice seekers favour, whilst we who pay have to scrape and grovel.

Thats my 2 cents (plus 7.75% CA sales tax)

Kind of Ebay feedback-esk.

I don't think voice123 has ever been hacked into. I don't believe that your re-rating is b/c of hacking, regardless.

The seeker can change the rating. They rate you based on how appropriate they feel you are for that particular project. If, after they re-listen to auditions, perhaps they felt the need to amend the ratings. The seeker sees his list of rated people in order - highest stars first - so maybe he was just changing his order.

If you go to TOF and search some of the threads, you'll see all kinds of conversation about the rating system. Tis unfortunate that the seeker doesn't really realize that the ratings they give us actually affect our placement in a talent search on the site (which, obviously, is how one could get a private lead).

I think there was a thread once about a "front page" hack on both of the Voices site.

Anyway, I just feel its all one way.
We pay - yet the voice seeker who pays nothing gets to make all the decisions.

Plus ratings not being compulsory - that is not right either.

Either every single audition you do gets a rating or scrap it.
I have had jobs on V123 yet noone (incl me) got rated.

I think I will write to V123 again (they didn't answer my last slightly aggressive letter) and ask why ratings aren't compulsory.

My point sort of was, how do you go from a 4 to a 2. Bit of a jump.....

Thanks guys

Ratings from Voice123 will not affect your career, life, reputation or anything else. The site is not important in any way whatsoever. It may give you a few chances at making a few dollars, no more no less. Do not allow yourself to get sucked into the insignificant world that is Voice123.

Yes you are right Philip.

Its just one of those things that you tend to take personally whether you like to or not.

Anyway, thanks everyone!

Insignificant though? For some, maybe. But for me, I hate to say it, but much of my work (new and repeat) comes from V123.

I hope to change that, but until then... it's not quite to the "insignificant" stage for moi. Rolls Eyes

In global and voice over market terms it really is insignificant but all credit to you Caryn for making a living out of it. As things grow and evolve it will become a small blip on your radar.
