I notice.
I notice.

My favorite line is "I'm more of a man than you'll ever be and more of a woman than you'll ever get."
credit Wayne County.

I keep waiting for this thread to spontaneously combust.

OK...back to the original thread...I agree with Todd..(God help me!)
He really does lack the gravitas for the job.
I really like what he's done as an actor, no doubt, but I heard the intro just now and all I could think was "milktoast"

WOW...werd, huh?

Again...just cause you can read it...

i'm sure the producer said "that's GREAT mr. douglas, thanks".

what the producer SHOULD have said: "that's GREAT mr. douglas, thanks ... let's try it one more time, this time ... @#$*% TRY!"

I probably shouldn't ask this question... but I will.
Is Douglas stepping on "writers" toes by taking this job?... or are there limitations during the writers strike?... or am I completely in the dark?

First. let me apologize for the obnoxious threadjacking.

Bailey, why wouldn't you ask that question? He's not a writer too, is he? Questions of his competency aside, how would he be rocking the boat?

I guess I thought that writers were all the same... in the industry.
No... Douglas is not a writer, but I thought most of the actors... etc... were respecting the lines. But I'm obviously in the dark... I guess the news media writers are not the same.

Pardon my ignorance.

I'm ignorant about that myself...now that you mention it, newswriters are writers...but are they part of the guild?

I'm not positive guys, but I think the news writers belong to a different union.

(edited to clarify comment)

From SAG ...

Quote:
If you are contracted to work on a television series or motion picture that continues to produce while the WGA is on strike, you are obligated by your personal service agreement and the “No Strike” clause in our collective bargaining agreements to go to work. You can continue to audition for work and accept new work if you choose to do so.

Screen Actors Guild members should not perform the duties covered by WGA contracts. Simply stated, you should not write anything normally written by striking WGA writers.

From the WGA website...

Quote:
The Writers Guild of America, East and the Writers Guild of America, West are labor unions representing writers in motion pictures, broadcast, cable, news and new media.

From AFTRA...

Quote:
Broadcast journalists employed by the ABC, CBS and NBC networks work under the AFTRA Network Staff Newspersons Agreement, which covers work performed on television and radio by network news correspondents and anchors at these networks.

And if you follow this link you can see which AFTRA stations include writers in their contracts.
