Again, thanks to all who have ventured a guess into my problem. The buffer settings and overall memory capacity of my computer may be the culprit. Last Wednesday my Windows OS crashed. That nightmare is a thread unto itself! I have since gotten my 'puter back and I've had to do an entire reload as if it were brand new. This time around I don't have nearly the amount of junk loaded into the box that I did before---just the programs necessary for recording, word processing and Internet access. So far, the clicks and pops have gone away.
