Yep, VOICE 2007 is the biggie for me as well.
It allowed me to meet so many of you in person.
Many who have helped me through some rough patches this year.
For that and your continued friendship I will forever be grateful.
And of course the VO-BB...I only joined a month before the start of this year, so I really only got sucked into the insanity full force in '07...and I thank God I did! For this I will forver be grateful....and for the gigs I've gotten via several of you as well!
I'm livin' the VO dream, and THAT ROCKS!!!!

Thank you for this thread, Deirdre. And of course, thank you for providing us with this wonderful playground for all us VO folk to come and hang out.
2007 was a landmark year for me personally and professionally. In both I moved to an entirely new level. Here are just a few of the highlights.
January - A wonderful visit with my friend Darren, a truly brilliant stage and voice actor, while I was in Pittsburgh.
February - Catching up with several old friends, including fellow voice talents, Wayne, Jerry and Joe at a convention in Orlando. Also, while I was in Orlando, taking part in the teleconference Dave Christi organized with several of us, including some really excellent thoughts from Philip.
March - Meeting and seeing so many of my friends from here and even a few from other places at VOICE 2007 in Las Vegas. Too many names to list and too great a risk that I'd forget to include everyone. This was also the month that I added a second talent agency's representation.
April - Being in Nashville for the Gospel Music Association convention, catching up with a few more old friends and fellow voice talent, including Ben and Lorri.
May - Got a chance to hang out with my long time friend and fellow voice talent, Charlie Glaize (who was also at VOICE, so some of you got to meet him there).
June - Being in Upstate New York for the first time in my life, not once but twice this month. First, catching up with and meeting Peter O'Connell for the first time. We had lunch in Danville, NY. And then later in the month, meeting Dave and Stephanie from Voices.com at the Voice Coaches weekend in Albany, NY. Lots of other wonderful folks there as well.
July - Our NC VO get-together, as has already been mentioned above. Again, I'm afraid I'd forget someone's name if I tried to list them all, but you can see our smiling faces in the photo Brett posted earlier.
August - The Dan O'Day Summit. Catching up with several friends, including Janet, Donovan, Pam and Vance. Later in the month, spending two separate days visiting with Rowell and getting a chance on the second of those occasions to get a tour of the Imaginator Studios. Truly an awesome place. That same day, getting a tour (prior to his move back to Alabama) of Hart's studio.
September - While I was in Paducah, getting a chance to have lunch with Todd one day and Amanda the next. Delightful people with much wonderful food and conversation.
October - While I was central Ohio, taking part in the Ohio VO get-together (with a guest visitor, Roger, from Kentucky). Also, getting a tour of Dan-o's studio and even using said studio for two sessions while in Ohio. Later in the month, meeting Tom and Caryn while we were at a weekend voiceover workshop in Atlanta.
November - First, Tacoma and Seattle. Managing to find a studio open early enough for me to do an ISDN session at the last minute on the morning after I arrive. And getting to have dessert and much wonderful conversation with Jeffrey while I'm there. Then, New York City. Seeing Liz and Dan again. Meeting Patrick, Melissa, Anthony and Greg. Having a simply amazing time at the voiceover workshop that Dan, Anthony and I attended along with several other folks. Attending the memorial service for Vance's dad with Willie and Donovan and then getting a tour of Donovan's studio.
December - My daughter graduates from college.
Other highlights from the year. All 3 of my sons getting chances to do paying voiceover work with me for the first time. Eric joining the VO-BB and also doing some significant studio work for me so that we're able to complete a massive audiobook project on time this summer.
As you can see, I have a hard time narrowing it down to just one thing.
Happy New Year, everyone! _________________ Be well,

Just like Bob, I have a hard time narrowing it down. Thank you DB for keeping this place positive. I love this board but I also love my privacy.Tonight, I thought I'd share. I saw this thread earlier today and I've been thinking about it all day. It's hard to pick one. But I'd have to say Kara called me "hot" and said I looked like Hugh Laurie!! I don't think it gets any more positive than that!! But seriously.....
I started 2007 in a wonderful play. Part of a trilogy. Great reviews and one of the plays was published in a collection titled "The Best New Plays of 2007". Wonderful, positive experience.
From that play, I got a call from Radio Theatre. I narrated "The Island of Dr. Moreau" and then" King Kong". Before you know it, Radio Theatre moved from the East Village to Off Broadway this past fall.
I performed Stand Up comedy at Gotham Comedy Club in Manhattan.
I got called in for many VO auditions. That's real positive when I don't feel the demo is ready and I have no agent. One casting director I got to know, wants to help me on the agent front.
I met many wonderful people on the VO-BB and some of them in person: MCM, Melissa, Liz and I even scored a backstage pass for the Bob Souer Sold Out World Tour. If it wasn't for Bob, I probably would not have met his back up singers, Melissa and Liz. Meeting everyone was great since I've been in contact with them since but Bob Souer is everything positive. I asked him shortly after that if he would listen to my demo. I sent it to him and 30 minutes later or less. He sent it back not only with notes, but he moved some spots around and tightened it up. I only asked him to listen but I am extremely grateful. Here's a guy with a day job, a vo job, a family man and he's voicing the Bible and after meeting him once, he takes the time to do that for me. If you get the chance, meet him. His positive vibes can rub off on ya!
I started a new day job in December. Health Benefits!!! AND....they will let me go out and audition!!
Remember, things happen for a reason. It's up to you to find the positive in them.
So, I wish you all a very Happy, Healthy and Safe New Year. May it be fun and may it be profitable.

Several things at my house.
Kate, my wife of 30 years now, finished her CMA course with a 3.8 gpa and is happily checking out offers.
James, our youngest is getting his best grades ever in his Business/Market program. Especially impressive as he was the dyslexic/special ed kid thru his public school years. He's now looking forward to opening a karate dojo for the man we started him in martial arts with 12 years ago.
I've had a very good year in VO. Thought I might step out of radio by about now, but I think things could be a little more solid client-wise before I do so.
One major client has been having disturbing "wobbles" lately. Don't want to put any important "eggs" in that basket.....
Lastly...on the fun side....I've got a new musical venture. An acoustic duo that's playing to "rave reviews" at the local eatterys and coffee houses.
Check it out at www.myspace.com/philnewlandandchuckdavis.

the inimitable V.O.I.C.E. 2007 was a turning point for me in both my pro and personal life.
traveling to italy with my 3 sisters and parents, returning to the homeland. i presume ireland is next, to satisfy dear mother.
returning back to my bungalow after a 3-year absence, whereby i was immediately more productive in every way.
meeting vo-bbers outside V.O.I.C.E and knowing i can do that anywhere in the world, as long as you're there talkin' and want to meet me
fawning sycophantry and watercress, of course.
seeing the gateway arch, finally!
skiing on christmas day. one of the best evuh at alta.
having a forum to say my piece (peace?) and be reminded of one of my new year resolutions of the past: be nicer.
heh.
love. you. all.
happy new year! _________________ sitting at #8, though not as present as I'd like to be. Hello!

I am thankful for all of the people on this website that encourage people to continue working hard. This is not an easy business to get into but the crew here makes it easier. If i had to pay for all of the advice i have gotten from this forum(directly and indirectly), i would be broke. Thank you for everything.
Thank You

Addendum:
Younger Bear graduated from high school and got his driver's license.
These two things have COMPLETELY changed my life for the better.
He also got all B's in his college courses. Mega- .gif" alt="W00T" border="0" /> New environments are not easy for him, but he's learning how to navigate on his own. Just plain wow. _________________ DBCooperVO.com

2007 was a great year for me. I made some very nice contacts and relationships with some tremendous new clients and agents. I have been apart of some incredible new projects including some on-cam stuff as well. Just recently a Gatorade spot!!
I met some more tremendous people on this board via email, phone and in person. The Ohio VOBB get-together in October was great! We will plan another one soon. I hope you can join us if you missed the last one.
My wife and I got to visit some really cool places last year....places we had wanted to go for a while and had not gotten around to it. The highlight for me was the Grand Canyon, since I had never been there. We took a 12 hour journey all over the canyon....around the canyon, over the canyon in a plane and through the canyon on pontoon boats. It was jaw dropping stuff the entire time to say the least. I highly recommend spending the money to do it if you get a chance. My wife and I loved it! Here are a few of the amazing pictures we took along the way:

Wow - 2007 - lots of doors opening and closing. Many tears shed. Many smiles as well.
- Two weeks in San Miguel de Allende during the summer to take art and dance was lots of fun. Have NEVER taken two weeks off before.
- Then what I thought might be a problem (the cancelling of my fall class for the semester) finally proved to me that I really didn't need that extra income. Now with a full class due to start up at the end of January, I'm wondering how to carve out the time to actually teach it!
- New kitten Lista was and continues to be a highlight. _________________ Playing for a living...

2007 was my best year EVER both professionally and personally...
Da GIGS: the Danielle Steel audio book, the Cartoon Network pilot, the Foonz gig (and monthly retainer! Yummy!)
Hitting all my financial goals, especially making more $$$ than I spent!
Project TERRA and the opportunity to work with some of the amazing people on this forum. I'm talking to YOU Bob, Amy, and Kara!
The Good Karma Network and all of the wonderful people who contributed to it.
I hope 2008 will be just as great! _________________ Tom Dheere - The "H" is Silent, but I'm Not!

2007 was a landmark year for me.
Top of the list was the birth of our daughter Breana in April. What a blessing.
Also, landing an agent and seeing major growth financially from this point last year has me very thankful. Also, the year wouldn't have been nearly as sweet without the camaraderie of fellow VO talents like those on this board.
Here's to a great 08! _________________ Joe Szymanski

Well, aside from VOICE 2007, I did hike Colorado's highest "14er", Mt Elbert (14,433'):

I ran in my first 10K this year: The Peachtree Road Race. There are pictures....but none I'm posting on the net Also, the gig that launched my career: the MTV VMAs in Vegas. Here's a pic of Planet Hollywood where the crew stayed. I wish I had gotten more pictures of celebs I met, but no one else at the after-party had a camera and I didn't want to be "uncool"
