Me neither, and it was my mistake to think that only paid members were eligible.

Ok. For the benefit of the winner, for the industry, for altruism, for ....whatever you like. Grand prize will be representation by a major LA, Chicago or New York voice over agent and their initial SAG/AFTRA fees paid? Voices.com get the agent deal and I'll go halves with Frank to pay the initial union dues. Sound good?

Compliments are nice from anyone but saying to a 5 year old that he is the tallest boy you've ever seen knowing he will have to walk into a mess hall full of US marines isn't helpful even if you do spend 18 hours a day trying to convince the marines that 5 year olds are REALLY tall.

If the Voiceys are fun, encouraging and result in a little PR for all concerned then that's great but let's not ever think of them as industry influencing.

Wow, that WOULD be a killer prize... major agency rep and union dues. That would be sweet.

And how exactly are you going to get one of these agencies to rep me? Will it be solely from the allure of me sweeping the Voiceys?

The thing I think I like most about the Voiceys is that it seems to be a mostly peer-driven event. I would assume that most nominations and votes will come via other VO artists and really, those are the people that I want in my corner Smile Did anyone see the new category for "Best Team"? That's really cool.

I did. I nominate Bob and Eric Souer.

Where team sports are concerned, I think the VO-BB family with Philip Banks as Father Christmas was pretty spiffy with "Visit from St. Nicholas".

Jebus, what kind of name would an award from this board have?

the VOBBIES?

yeesh.
I think we'll avoid it and stick to talking like pirates once a year.

Stephanie, thanks for explaining very clearly the efforts that you and David put in on this. Sorry for making it sound anything less than what it is.

Also, I don't want any of my earlier comments to degrade anyone who has won a Voicey award in the past. Was just trying to put some perspective on things... nothing more nothing less. A tip of the hat to whoever takes one this year!

Yours in humility, (having never even won so much as $5 on a lottery ticket.) Smile

Thank you for taking the lead Phillip.

Let us see where this wagon train leads.

DB, your comment about VO-BB awards lead my mind - in the wrong direction. Arrrrggghhh. VOBBIES indeed.

Thank you Mr. Banks.

Toodles
