Jeffery, you forgot what you had to do to gain admittance didn’t you.
The absolute truth is this, there a so many places/things/or times when a man or woman must prove themselves worthy and well qualified to gain the right to be somewhere. Some times the bar is low other times the bar is high. Still there are all kinds of bars. (No bar jokes, I use to own one)
I don’t know what kind of process DB uses to approve admittance to VO_BB, and I suspect she is Savvy (PI pun intended) enough to know what is and isn’t acceptable to her. None the less each person had to pass some form of accreditation (official approval) to get the OK to be here. I bet every now and then she says NO to someone. She might be thinking that letting me in the house was a bad deal
Bottom line Jeffrey you went thought a vetting process of some kind and you were judged worth and well qualified to enter in to this esteemed forum. Under the watchful eye of Madam DB you, me, all continue to prove worth and well qualified. ( I sure hope she doesn’t show me the door after this post)
Here you have one judge, jury and executioner. This is DBs deal and she has the right to make the calls she makes, it here property right. At SaVoa all applicants get reviewed by their peers, a three panel committee who doesn’t know any more about the applicant than how well they deliver the goods. They never know the name of the applicant and the applicant never knows the name of the panel members.
Look up the word egalitarian. SaVoa works to be that, just ask the folks who you know that are members of SaVoa. Now on the other hand this is a Benevolent Dictatorship. (DB the aforesaid was not said with any sarcasm or ulterior meaning. Things are what they are and when you think it over I am fairly sure I am right about the Benevolent part)
Jeff in closing (I know this hasn’t been a brief post, sorry!). SaVoa nor I aren't in any way trying to be less than friendly, professional, supportive and egalitarian. SaVoa is not right for everyone, but a goodly portion of folks have joined up and they seem to like the idea. I hope this heals the sincere angst you have regarding SaVoa. (Then if were just pulling my chain, don’t stand too close). Where is Jadah and does he have any spare Moosehead.. _________________ Esse quam videri "To be rather than to seem"

The process of asking for a letter from people requesting registration here is simply to prevent spambots from wasting my precious time. I take all comers— It's an open house.
It's a party and you're invited.
That's really about it— and the bouncers have been put to task only once. (grounding seems to take care of the minor infractions)
There is a very specific flavor to this place, and between my First Mate Brian Hart and me, we keep the punch bowls filled and chips and twiglets handy.
My co-admin Scratch said "It will self-regulate, or it will completely implode." And most of the time, this place takes care of itself because people care about it.
Occasionally things get a little out of hand when I'm on the road—
I still can't figure out how you guys got the llama into (and then OUT of!) the conversation pit.
Or how you managed to fill the entire upstairs bathroom with watercress.
Honestly. I'm still finding little green shards in the towel closet. _________________ DBCooperVO.com

Somehow, I am reminded of the quote:
"I would not join any club that would have someone like me for a member." -- Groucho Marx
Thank goodness VO-BB isn't a club, but merely a glorious water cooler, for those of us who don't have one, to stand around and talk shop and shoot the .

I'd like to thank myself for all my hard work and luck at having the right parents who blessed me with good health, strong teeth and an education that included nearly 20 different schools from coast to coast allowing first hand American English dialect coaching.
It is SUCH an honor to nominate and induct myself as Merry Merchants of Voice Overs #einnoc*regilliwret. (Or at least that's my number until I can come up with something funnier or more profound.) _________________ Playing for a living...

i love the self-nomination/ self-induction process for MMoVO. it's so easy!
as for being part of the vo-bb:
it takes a reading and comprehension of the rules (that's not so easy for some)
it requires not quoting whole posts
it means treading finely that R-rated line
perhaps occasionally updating your avatar, but only if you want to play
bringing up old jokes regularly
maybe PMing with some of the other vo-bbers
remembering your camera and then trying your best to take clear photos when meeting with other vo-bbers
shameless post count boosting on occasion if you're of that persuasion
understanding banksey
remembering brevity is your friend
knowing threadjacking is a-okay, because someone always brings it back to where it needs to be
embracing fawning sycophantry
not taking anything too seriously, folks
this is not a blog (yikes!)
and knowing, please oh please, that my snark is encased in love

Gee Willickers...since Connie inducted herself right here in the open like that....guess I shall too.
I hereby forsooth sanctify and deputize my own self without shame or hesitation, as a Member in Good (or at least "Alright") standing of the sarcastic and wholly independent and unrecognized fraternal order of the Merry Merchants of Voice Over.
I acknowledge and thusly heap praises upon them who know how microphones and digital audio workstations actually work, so that voice talkers like me can flip yon switch and speaketh for a livingeth.
I also freely and unconditionally acknowledge the lacking of any other pertinent marketable job skills unto myself.
Yea. Verily. _________________ Moe Egan
