Man I hate waiting. UPS is supposed to deliver 2 packages today. Some new mic cable and connectors from one place and a new soldering station from another. Both have been "out for delivery" since 7 something this morning. The anticipation is killing me! _________________ Hart Voice Overs Blog

I hear you my bruthah. Hang in there.
I waited 4 months for my new preamp. Approximately one time during that 4 months, it occurred to me that I should find out what kind of jacks it has, but that idea was ephemeral. When the preamp finally arrived 2 weeks ago, I remembered that great idea.
So I had to wait another 2 days for a cable to arrive
And just this week we had to wait 3 days for the new pump for our washing machine to be delivered. When it arrived, the power connector was broken. A new one was promised, and today they wrote to say that in fact, the part is on back order. Thank goodness DH had gotten the old pump working again or we would be schlepping to the laundromat as in days of yore. |

Four months?!? Wow, what kind of preamp. Was it coming from Antarctica? Now I feel about silly. I ordered this stuff on Monday. _________________ Hart Voice Overs Blog

I wasn't trying to make you feel silly. Just comiserating. But I guess it is a good point - just when you think you can't wait another minute....

I like the releatively recent idea of a bar/laundromat combo.
'course these days if I had to babysite laundry, I'd just bring my Gameboy/Nintendo DS thing. _________________ DBCooperVO.com

My hometown of San Angelo, TX actually had one back in 1990. Not sure if it stayed open long after I left for Austin... _________________ Great Voice. Great Choice. For Voice Talking and stuff.

Think your departure meant a massive loss of income?

From Time Magazine:
Quote: | Phil Akin was working his way through Iowa State University in 1983 by installing coin-operated machines on campus when he decided to start his kind of launderette, a place where people could get a cold beer or play a hot game of eight ball while they waited for their clothes to dry. Akin opened the first Duds 'N Suds store, complete with pool table and bar, with a $120,000 loan from an Ames, Iowa, bank. Since then, Akin has added eight launderettes of his own and sold 56 Duds 'N Suds franchises in 27 states. The entertainment features are left to the tastes of the franchisees. Several Duds 'N Suds outlets show movies, and the three in Nevada have slot machines, naturally. |
