Pat was the Ace in the Hole once again! and the presentation, while somewhat chaotic, was quite interactive with attendees getting their questions answered immediately.

It was interesting to see what the concerns were.
Like "stars" who can't/won't do exertion sounds.
Solution: hire a sound-alike who can.

The ongoing question of mouth noise/dry mouth and green apples/gum/water.
Water in a bottle=glurgy bubble sounds in throat sometimes, and it's too late to "hydrate" once you're at the session anyway
gum = what the heck-- who give gum to a voice actor while he's doing a job? I heard about this in 2 different places at this conference— must be the green apple treatment of the new milennium.
green apples = the need for more bites of green apple
Solution : Pat's all-purpose spritzer bottle for a little bit of water right where you need it.

The indoor, fully enclosed session rooms are too dim for my liking. I should have asked my AV guy to pump the lights to full, but I got a bit nervous and forgot. I couldn't get my splash screen image to display on the big screen, so I just ditched all my AV concerns and dived into the show.

Thanks for the update and I'm delighted to know you and Pat had another great show. I agree, the gum thing is just beyond puzzling. And I use Pat's spritz bottle all the time. It's a life-saver, for sure, for long-form narration sessions.

So, this may be a dumb question, but why wouldn't a star do an "exertion" sound? Isn't that part of the acting gig, when one gets into the moment? Or am I missing something here?

I mean, yeah, not everybody can and should do the orgasm scene from "When Harry Met Sally" but I don't think that's what's on the line here, right?

I, myself, did a wonderful death scream the other night for a game that someone is designing. It was most cathartic...

I also have the feeling that many 'stars' regard the job as filming only, anything before or after isn't anything to do with them. Why should they go into a looping studio when they could be on the next job or on the beach. Long may it continue I say, keeps me in peanut butter.

Just a thought, but it might also be because of an actor straining his/her voice during an energetic take won't be able to work close mic'd the next day. We can fix it all in post anyway.
