I really wish I would've recorded my radio spots when I worked as a dj, but my full intention isn't as much advertising as it is getting into cartoons and such. I tried a slightly different approach than those I've heard, as I've only heard ad type voice over demos. I know I could put something together better, but I need a little direction. I'm used to working with music, so this is a change of pace for me. With that being said, here is something I threw together to get an idea of what should be kept or if I should just revamp it to a standard style.

Thank you in advance for anyone who takes the time to listen to this, and double that to anyone with constructive criticism.
(forgot to add, the end was inspired from reading the post regarding anime, and mention of people passing out in the booth (going super saiyan), which I have done recording songs, and made it into a poor joke)

I think your demo won't get you a lick of work in any segment of the industry that I'm familiar with. It's too eclectic and borders on being nothing more than a self-indulgent performance piece.
Other than that it's..... no, that's it.
Sorry,

Thank you, had the feeling that was the case, just needed verification from a professional. Nothing at all to be sorry about. I figured going the unconventional route was the wrong way to go about it in the first place. As a performer attempting to retransition, I should've stuck more to my radio time than my performance years.
Thank you very much for your time. |

I was going to leave it up as an example of what not to do, but as it had my name on it I figured it to be more damaging than helpful to leave it. Thank you for your consideration. It was a bad judgement call posting it. |

i don't think "bad judgment" at all. you asked a question - you got an answer. don't let it stop you. you now have a starting block. press the ball of your foot against it and push off. _________________ "i know philip banks": todd ellis

Ahh... never said it was going to stop me! Just a slight hinderance. If I thought everything would be great the first time I wouldn't have released a few albums I can't bare to listen to now, let alone enduring a year or two of drafts and updates for new ones.
I actually got my first acting and voice acting (ADR in the movie, separate character) spots yesterday, along with scoring and running the sound (CREDITS GALORE!). I see quite a few people have taken the time to look at this post, and the 8 people who downloaded it before I deadlinked it... thank you, and I'll have something worthwhile up sometime after I finish the two albums I'm preparing for release.

Nothing worth not missing.

hahah... in this case it was bad judgement. I went against countless amounts of advice and posted a piece of improv (and one plug I did for a friend a while back) thinking it might turn out more than what it was. Bruce hit it right on the dot, and I'm glad he wasn't afraid to speak up in fear of discouraging someone (at least I think... ) |
