I was rather blunt with them after the second round. Not too sure it helped (but there are two in here that I definitely liked and can make something out of with a bit of effort).
There are some "clippy" aspects of them all save for the first one, and I zinged 'em on it pretty harshly. (though I admit that the Blue mic with a cap on was kinda cute to me). First one is probably my favorite so far (change the mic, slight change of POV, maybe use an emboss, do something with "voiceover"). _________________ Voiceovers by Gregory Houser

maybe you weren't blunt enough.
although - i think #1 is the best of the lot. pretty good, really. it does need something to make the "voiceover" pop a bit more. maybe just a bit larger with a dark layer underneath and slightly offset??? _________________ "i know philip banks": todd ellis

i like the first one too. but why the underline under only "overs?" shouldn't it be under both?
not sure about the faces in the mics. too cutesy for me, unless that's what you're looking for. i also like the last one (without the face), but your last name seems to get squished at the end. i know that's the effect, just looks weird. _________________ Jim Feldman

Greg,
The first of this batch is my favorite, too. _________________ Be well,

Me too and I mentioned that to her as well (in a nice way).
She didn't realize she had been doing that the whole time.
*slaps head*
I was thinking of using the first, switching the mic to an RCA 44 or 77, using an emoss and moving the voiceover part to be underlined by that. _________________ Voiceovers by Gregory Houser

I looked through the previous ones and these. Do they design clip art? The examples on their site don't look so much like clip art, and they really do seem to be trying, but regardless if they're originals, they do look kind of corny and I'm fairly sure most people would think they're clip art. Not saying I could do better, but not saying I couldn't either... but it seems like they're not putting in their all. Of these I would agree that the first one tweeked would be the best. |

Agreed.
And that's is precisely why I called them on it. It looked "clippy" (as in, looks like clip art). I know that's not what they're going for, but yeah that's what it looks like for most of these.
Again, #1 seems to have been the most original of the lot for them IMO, and it's not that difficult of a design.
No, clip art was not the message I want to send with my logo, hence the frustration I've had with these guys, because as you've said, their own portfolio and the work they did for others on this board has been anything but. _________________ Voiceovers by Gregory Houser

get a new company. These all look so cartoony and similar. It's almost like they've got a template that they vary. _________________ Jeff

Well, I've already asked them to stop. I like the first image of this latest round, but I've already tossed the bone in front of a graphic artists I know from a former VO job I did with a sports team. She seemed top of her game.
I'm going to get a good view of that one which I like, figure out where I want to go with it and either continue or formally pull the plug from there.
I will give credit though, this company was pretty quick to jump on the phone and communicate with me when I indicated that I was unhappy. I just think that they might be too lock-stepped to do the job I need. _________________ Voiceovers by Gregory Houser

It must be backwards day in my brain today.
I actually like #3 the best. Go figure.
But #1 is my second fave although I agree with the weirdness of having only "overs" be underlined. Huh?
Hey, the good news is they'll give you your money back! _________________ Lou Zucaro

I agree they looks very similar, and they don't really make me think of your voice that much.
Also
Makes me think it comes alive at night at eats children.
I think the first is the best it's like the microphone is a wand of power, the voice overs text is a bit odd. I like the whole hand write-ry thing but the angle and the underlining is weird.
Though I think the hat thing isn't the worst that could happen, what if she picked up on the fact the word House is in your name?
Wow this is my LEAST informative delurking yet. |

Yeah, well I'll say this much, they live up to their word.
$ refunded yesterday, little nastgram about not using their images in the inbox this morning.
You know guys, somehow I don't think they need to worry about me using any of the imagery they've come up with so far _________________ Voiceovers by Gregory Houser

I think that was a wise move Greg.
I don't know why but this one just kills me. If they'd have put a hat on it it would be priceless.

yeah, I got a chuckle out of that one too
the cross-eyed, mentally unstable look isn't what I'm going for though...
I've already got that part down pretty well.
BTW: did anyone else think of the "Hotwheels" logo when looking at that image? _________________ Voiceovers by Gregory Houser
