I have a client who I've been working with for a while and wants me to add one page to thier existing website. Their site is very simple html and it should only take me around an hour or so to create it. I know a few of you here do web work... What would you charge?
I'm thinking somewhere in the range of $30-50 an hour?
Many thanks! |

the high end sounds good. $50/hour seems fair.
but i have no idea, frankly. what's your time worth? _________________ sitting at #8, though not as present as I'd like to be. Hello!

You know that's a great question. I don't know and I've been asked that question a few times before. What's a good way of coming up with that "magic number"? |

I have a web dev company since '98 and I think it's a really tough question to answer.
It would be the same as if somebody asked you "What does a it cost for somebody to do voiceover work?"
Depends on the person, their skill level, their experience, their "fame", what it's going to be used for, how long the script is, etc. etc. etc.
You've got the answer to the "how long the script is" part, but only you can answer the other parts.
That said, I think if you're ONLY doing HTML edits, somewhere right in the $35-$40 / hour range is probably fine. If you have to do graphics work as well, then maybe $50-$55 / hour or so.
This assumes, though, that you're good and it doesn't take you an hour to do something simple
(hence my original statement that this is a difficult question to provide an easy answer) _________________ Lou Zucaro

My range is pretty close to what Lou said. _________________ Greg Littlefield

Most of the cost of what I do to design a site is kind of intangible— it's figuring out the design.
Messing about with typefaces, layout, etc.
After that it's pretty easy to build the page. Time-consuming, but easy. _________________ DBCooperVO.com
