|

I have an east coast client who wants to phone patch tomorrow morning at 6:30 AM my time. I told her my voice would sound like a squashed frog. Any advice for getting rid of croaky morning voice? _________________ Jeff

actually, yeah, get up as early as you can manage and start talking.
you'll get the kinks out. (ahem) _________________ sitting at #8, though not as present as I'd like to be. Hello!

Yeah, I'd get up at 4:30am and start drinking water as soon as your feet hit the floor.
DON'T have any coffee.
Warm Decaf Tea is OK though..
and yes, start talking...read the paper outload, (Read VO-BB posts out loud..that'll be fun!)...have your session and then go back to bed!
(Will Bill allow you to come in a few hours late?)

What Diane said, plus do all the stuff you probably already do to sound good for an afternoon session, just do it the night before. Things like, avoid alcohol, salty food, and smoky bars. And loud conversation in smoky bars with alcohol and salty food. And sassiges. And be well-hydrated. With water. |

No coffee. Do Not gargle. TALK TALK TALK. Get tea with slippery elm in it the night before (brand names include "Throat Coat" - look in the crunchy granola section) Guzzle tea and water.....do vocal warm ups but START SOFTLY. - hum in the shower...You can't strain your way to mid day voice- you'll hurt your vocal chords if you do. Do you use a neti pot? (you should).....And Todd is actually right (well...not to that extreme) but if you don't want to sound like you've got morning voice, you need to give it TIME to warm up. _________________ Moe Egan

It's too bad you can't wait 'til noon...that morning voice will usually take care of itself by then.
Get it?! Because then it's not...

yeah, Todd, and so was I.
Thanks all. The real question is now, do I charge them extra for waking my ass up so early? _________________ Jeff
