On the issue of crediting the creator of the template, even if you changed it, you should still acknowledge that the design is based on the design of Joe Blow. That's just simple professionalism and courtesy to the creator. Now, you don't have to have it on the front page. You can put it somewhere else, maybe on a "links" page or something.

That's what I'm doing with mine, although right now I'm in the middle of some redesign, so haven't got all my links updated yet.

anyway, I like the look you have -- it's clean and to the point!

Okay, I think it's all fixed up. Lou looked over my CSS and it looks like I missed a "."... lol. Amazing how one little thing messes it all up!

Thanks everyone for all the help!

I understand what you're saying, but it really depends on the situation. We use templates sometimes for our clients who have lower budgets, but there's no part of the template license that requires credit to the source (and credit isn't included in the template).

Again, if part of your use agreement includes the link, then definitely leave it as they have it in there originally. as CC said, but if it's not a requirement, personally, I don't see it as an issue to remove it.

Lou,

Good point. My old site had a template that required a link back; my new blog one did not, but I think the guy did such a nice job on it that I've included a credit to him on my "about" page.
