I always sit because of my disability. I make sure to sit up straight so I can control my breathing. I've learned to make the necessary adjustments. When I perform with my theater company I also sit.

Sitting.
Standing would be dangerous.
I bore myself to sleep and if I am sitting, there is much less danger. |

Most of the time I stand for short copy whilst leaning against a high stool. For long form I will lean and/or sit on the stool. _________________ Esse quam videri "To be rather than to seem"

Generally, I stand, I have more energy that way.
But, if it's a casual read, I will sit, and even slouch. My coach taught me that! I have a high chair.... and when I'm done reading, I put Cheerios on the attached table. _________________ Caryn Clark... The Hip Chick Voice!

I've never actually tried sitting for a read, but I can definitely tell my breath is more open when standing.
If you're interested in an electric desk like the one Connie has, check out Kare Products, Inc. I used to have one of their desks (a very large one at that) at my previous job. They also make hand-crank versions. |

Many, many years ago, while working in radio (before there was digital anything) , I found that my airchecks were always better sounding when I stood up during my shows. So I continue to stand, whenever possible.
My studio is set up with two "working" locations - one for doing "computer" work, while in a sitting position, and a separate "standing" location, with a mic, extra monitor, and keyboard for doing VO. That way, I stand for the actual VO, and if I need to do any serious editing, I can take a load off my feet while I do that, then return to standing for more VO. _________________ Travis
